Where is God When I am Stressed Out?

Extreme Answers to Extreme Questions by Katie Gieser

Where is God When I’m Stressed Out?

He’s right there beside you, in front of you, inside of you, behind you. He doesn’t leave because we get stressed out. But, He doesn’t stress out with us. Why? Because He’s God. He knows that life will get handled. He’s not worried about the little things that sometimes stress us out. Would you want to worship a God who got stressed out with you? God can be a calming presence in the midst of your stress if you’ll take a breath and get in touch with Him. Bad things do happen. Life is hard sometimes. But most often being stressed out doesn’t make it go any better. In fact, it’s usually the opposite. The Bible says we are hard pressed, but not crushed. That’s what God knows. He knows our limits. He won’t let us be crushed.

2 Corinthians 4:8-9
We are hard pressed on every side. Yet not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.

Does Jesus care when I’m stressed out?

Seems like everybody is looking for a little peace and quiet these days. There’s so much happening so fast in your life and in the world. There’s so much to be confused about and you’ve got a really busy life-school, sports, church, friends, family. Whatever is going on in your life, it can get pretty hectic trying to figure it all out. But stop. It’s time for some peace in your life. Jesus is the One who gives you peace. He whispers calmness into your crazy situation. He gives you a break from the frantic worry that sometimes overwhelms you. When you get into His presence, there is peace. When you take your eyes off of your circumstances long enough to turn them toward Him, you immediately find relief. Remember, Jesus refuses to panic. No matter how hurried or confused your life may be, take a second to listen to the Prince of Peace on the throne of your life. Then you won’t panic either.

Phillipians 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
