A LITTLE ABOUT ME… ANGELIA HARPER
I am a native of Charlotte, North Carolina, but have lived in South Carolina, Georgia, Texas, and Virginia also. My husband and I have lived in Raleigh since 1995. We have two grown children, a son and daughter. Our daughter Amandia has our four little granddaughters, and their family lives in Chesapeake, Virginia. My son Justyn and his wife live in Youngsville and are expecting our newest grandchild in January. Our family just keeps growing and it is the joy of my life!
In our free time my husband and I enjoy traveling together with family and friends and building lots of fun memories from around the world. I love to read and to garden with my flowers in the backyard at home. My husband is a pastor, and so much of my time away from school is spent with our church and its varied activities.
Since childhood I had the goal to become a teacher, and it has been my passion for all of my adult life. I have professional certification in Intermediate Education (gr. 4-9) and Social Studies and in 1994, I completed my National Boards Teacher Certification. I have 36 years of teaching experience, with all but 7 years of that time spent in fifth grade classrooms. So to say the least, I love students at that developmental level!
I taught at Durant Road Elementary 1995-2007, helped open North Forest Pines Elementary 2007-2008, and then came to open Sycamore in July, 2008. I feel very fortunate to be here with the students and families, and am looking forward to a great year in 2009-2010! |
