On a whole there is very little communication between the USA Roller Sports (USARS) Co-Chairmen of the "Traditional Hockey Committee", soon to be the "Rink Hockey Committee", with members of the USARS Rink Hockey Sport body. For example, Co-Chairman Barb Brooks shared Rink Hockey members and sport stakeholders cannot expect Minutes from the USARS Standing Committee, further she explained Committee minutes are shared because the committee chooses to. This unfortunately explains why some minutes are shared some are not, and why overall historically speaking almost none have been. This also explains the hope that USOC may be able to clarify and mediate on behalf of a USARS sport body who is largely kept in the dark. Unfortunately, there is confusion as to how our governing Standing committee ever became a committee governed by two Chairman. Members of USARS have been asked for documentation that reflects an official Process, described by the USARS By-Laws, was followed regarding the appointment of a new Co-Chairman, Barb Brooks, only months after appointing Barb as a non-voting member. Co-Chairmen Bill Sisson has been
communicated with via email multiple times requesting information (since he is the
Chairman who would have requested another
Chairman not replace him, and instead share his responsibilities
directly and with equal authority.) Bill also holds executive authority with USA Roller Sports and would have been part of the committee who would have accepted any nominations or recommendations from a standing committee. So far there is nothing that shows an official process was followed. Unfortunately, committee membership is a Bigger issue than the appointment of a second chairman to a single post, because most the USARS Ballots etc don't arrive to members of USARS rink hockey in time to vote for most committee seats that are not Appointed. Our recent World team selections are another example why it would be helpful for USOC to consider helping the USARS Rink Hockey Committee. This year's competing USA World Rink Hockey players were forced to navigate ever-changing selection criteria and those athletes who finally, clearly, met all selection requirements were asked not to play so other members who did not meet requirements could compete internationally instead in high stakes competitions. Please see:http://www.usarollersports.org/vnews/display.v?TARGET=printable&article_id=472fa7e900fc9 or view the following PDF , here you will view the official criteria for the USA World team selection set forth by USArollersports. Please view http://usarinkhockey.com/forum/index.php#2 for primary source discussion regarding the selection and confusion surrounding USARS decision to ignore the criteria. or view the following PDF's: team usa mens worldteam 2008.pdf, teamusaladiesworldteam2008.pdf It is very helpful to see USARS Hardball Hockey publicly taken under the USOC wing by publically aligning the sports name with a naming convention that better aligns with the larger international community of Rink Hockey- resulting in a new naming convention: USARS Rink Hockey Hopefully, there is something in the USOC By-Laws- or that you can recommend that will respectfully request our USARS Rink Hockey Committee reconsider the USARS By-Laws from a place that raises our Rink Hockey Committee Governance to include collaboration, communication, and differing degrees of transparency necessary to honor USARS Rink Hockey members and sport stakeholders. Thank you United States Olympic Committee (USOC) in advance for anything you can help to mediate and clarify. •Each URL below links to a complete email http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=ddk44hzw_20hp5rtshq >From: hardball hock <hardballhock@yahoo.com> >Subject: USOC can you assist USARS?
