Happy Yess is the best music
venue in Darwin. It only hosts original bands (cover bands, get back to
mitchell st where you belong), is run by artists, and runs on love from
the dedicated Happy Yess crew of volunteers. Happy Yess is a not-for-profit organisation making sure original music is on the map in darwin. Open Thursdays 8pm-12am for arty stuff. Open Fridays & Saturdays 9pm-1am for live, original music. www.happyyess.com Arty stuff could include: Visual art exhibitions, spoken word, film, comedy, ping pong, drum n bass bingo, whatever. Music includes: Local original Darwin bands, with guests from across the NT, interstate and occasionally overseas. Bands might play rock, electronica, reggae, folk, country, death metal, roots, weird experimental, or whatever they please. The venue exists to provide a place for musicians and artists producing original work to perform. It normally costs 5 bucks to get in. This pays the bands. The venue is located at 5 Bennett Street across the road from the Qantas and ABC buildings in Darwin City. The place is small, but full of atmosphere, complete with vinyl booths, couches and funky lamps. 18+ only. Sorry Kids! Don't despair! All Ages events are generally held bi-monthly... |
