What is GPT?

GPT Stands for "Get Paid To",  as in get paid to do something. The "something" referred to in GPT can be summed up very simply:

Get Paid To: read an email, view an advertisement, complete a survey, sign up for a newsletter, sign up for a trial of a product or a service, and other assorted actions. These are actions you and I take every day as a consumer.  The question is:  Do you get paid for it?

When you become involved in GPT programs, YOU (the consumer/customer) have the wonderful opportunity to get paid for the products and services you purchase.

Yes, it sounds like a big scam, but read on.  I publish this website absolutely FREE.   My hope is that other folks needing a little financial break will be able to benefit from the information on this site.

So now you know what GPT is... let's move on to the burning question...

What is this going to cost me, and what is the catch?

I started earning money on GPT sites with zero.You don't need anything but your computer and an internet connection to begin. It is very possible to earn $25.00 to $50.00 or more in the next few hours without spending a dime. GPT sites have two basic kinds of offers.  The first type of offer is called a "Freebie".  This type of offer pays you to fill out a survey or a questionnaire by submitting some simple information.  Every form you fill out generally pays between .50 to 3.00 (The average being 1.00). You fill in your information, hit submit, and cha-ching ...you just earned a buck!  Fill out 25 forms....you get the picture.

When you are first starting out...freebies are the best way to get a feel for how things work.  As you become more confident, you may wish to move onto the second type of offer:  Trials.

Trials refer to signing up for a promotion for a service or product for a set amount of time to try the product out and see if you like it.  Most trials are free but have a small shipping and handling charge.  If you decide to keep the product, you continue on with the trial and you are billed automatically.  If you wish to cancel, you call the telephone number listed and cancel.  For this reason,  it is important to keep accurate records of your offers so that you will know when a trial is coming to an end.  you don't want to get stuck with reocurring charges for something you don't want.  You are by now wondering how you could possibly make money by spending money.  It's very simple.  I'll give you some examples of my own:

Example 1:  There is an offer on many sites for a nutritional supplement where you agree to pay  the $3.95 shipping and handling fee for a bottle of the supplement for a 30 day free trial.  So you pay the handling fee and your product gets sent to you to try out.  Meanwhile, the company (or affiliate)  that markets the product pays the site owner of the GPT you are working on for obtaining a qualified lead for them.  The site owner then pays YOU a portion of what they earned through the affiliate. You get credited a certain amount, say $16.00 into your account.  You have just made $12.05 for "trying" said product.  In this case, perhaps, you decide that these supplements are not for you and you call the toll-free number within the specified amount of time and cancel your trial.  The $12.05 is still in your account, and you give the bottle of supplements to someone who can really appreciate it, like the dog.

Example 2:  Almost everyone has heard about the  wildly popular blockbuster deal, where you put your movies in que, and they are delivered right to your door, etc.  This is a great offer available on almost all GPT sites with a high payout of 30.00 or more for a 9.99 one month trial.  So if you decide to do the trial, you not only have 3 movies coming to you in the mail,  but you made 20.00 to watch them.  20 bucks will buy a lot of popcorn!  You may decide, as I did, that you love getting your choice of movies delivered to you instead of running into town, and you continue on with the trial.  Or you may decide that you don't want to keep that up, because you had forgotten that you don't even own a DVD player and you hate movies anyhow.  Either way, you still keep your 20.00.

In the above examples,  you paid 13.94 for the trials. The GPT site paid you 46.00.  You made a profit of 32.06, and it probably took a total of 20 minutes of your time.

Now I don't know about you, but it would take me about 5 hours flipping burgers to make the kind of money you just made in 20 minutes.  Not to mention gas to get to and from the burger joint, the babysitter that would have to stay for an hour until hubby gets home, and the uniform I  had to pay for. Hmmm.....  this might be starting to make some sense.

Now... for the next question: What's the catch?

The catch is that you are now a pawn in the great sea of advertising we call the World Wide Web. But hey, that is not necessarily a bad thing. Let me explain:

A few years back, anyone who had a product or service to sell used to be able to blast your email inbox with his or her advertisements you neither asked for or wanted. This became known as Spam, and if you have been online long enough to remember those days than you know that Spam as we know it today is nothing compared to the garbage we used to find in our inboxes not so many years back. Today, we have spam blockers and all kinds of fancy stuff to deal with spam. We have a national "Do Not Call" Registry that has made it impossible for advertisers to telemarket to 132 million people. And we have legislation that was passed in 2003 that can actually convict and punish spammers...so we have a great deal of Spam protection. This is great for us. But not so great for advertisers. Anyone wanting to market to us over the telephone or internet must now have our permission.

How do they get our permission?  We sign up for newsletters, special sales alerts, etc., and in so doing, we are "opting-in" to the advertising. Now they can advertise forever to us until we unsubscribe. ( This has come to be known as permission based marketing.) 

 Big companies have to keep their names and images in front of you at all times in order to keep up with the competition. YOU, my friend,  are their most valuable asset!  YOU are the consumer!

YOU have leveraging ability. The companies are now paying for the priviledge to advertise to you! You can think of it this way if you like: If a company wants to take up your valuable inbox space by advertising to you, then... by gosh they are gonna give you something in return!  So that is where the catch is. You make some money playing the advertising game. They get a customer they can blast their ads to.  It's really a win/win situation.
