Welcome!!!
The range is City and Bureau of Juneau (CBJ) property and it is administered and operated by the Hank Harmon Rifle Range, Inc. (HHRRI). HHRRI is a six-person Board of Directors comprised of the following: 2 members representing the Juneau Pistol and Rifle club, 2 members representing the Territorial Sportsmen, and 2 representing the public at large. The mailing address for HHRRI is P.O. Box 33012 Juneau, AK 99803.
This range is open to the public every day of the year during daylight hours. A caretaker lives on the premises. All applicable city laws and ordinances are enforced at the range. The range is located at 1.4 mile Montana Creek Road. There are two ranges on the property. The short range is 100 yards and the long range is 400 yards. The short range is generally best for handguns and rimfire rifles, while the long range is more suited to high power rifles. The range is unsupervised and the only restrictions pertain to safety and good conduct. Because it is a free public range that is unsupervised it is absolutely necessary that every shooter assume a high degree of responsibility. Failure to do so will require the hiring of a range master, user fees from all shooters, and highly regimented shooting procedures, as is the case at almost all other ranges in the U.S. Both the short and the long range can be reserved for use (day use) for a nominal fee. It is the responsibility of all shooters to haul their garbage out, be aware of what is going on around them, have respect for others and be SAFE! Please see full details under "Range Rules".. It is very important that all range safety rules are adhered too.
Please consider being a paid member of the HHRRI. The cost is only $10.00 per year. Please ask the caretaker or drop by Rayco Sales to get a membership card. If you don’t want to become a paid member, please consider contributing at least $2 per day in the donation boxes provided at the range. Unlike most ranges, there are no mandatory dues or fees. The operation is financed almost entirely by user fees derived from shooting clubs and donations. Very little money comes from the public coffers. Although the facilities are owned by the City and Borough of Juneau, tax dollars available for operations and maintenance are minimal. The daily 'upkeep' of the range is a responsibility of all. Please clean up after yourself.
