Money for small groups

posted ‎‎17 Nov 2009 02:15‎‎ by Anne-Marie Rogers   [ updated ‎‎17 Nov 2009 02:41‎‎ ]

You can apply now to the Neighbourhood Partnership small grant fund for  funding for your small group.  Through the Neighbourhood Partnership there is £10,000 funding available for each ward of Bishopsworth, Hartcliffe and Whitchurch Park. In this area we are choosing to spend that money on small grants to the community. Individuals or groups can apply for up to £1,000 to make improvements to their area.

If you are interested in applying for a grant please read the attached information and complete the application form, including all necessary details.

Paper copies of the application form are available from HWCP @symes community resource centre, Symes District Centre, Peterson Avenue, Hartcliffe, BS13 0BE. Tel Reception (0117) 903 8044.

Completed forms must be received by Reception by 5pm on 31 December 2009. Any late applications will not be considered.

Applications are assessed by a local panel of councillors and residents (at least one of each from each ward). No-one connected to any application can be involved in the decision-making to avoid conflicts of interest.

South Bristol Community Hospital Meeting 14th September: Bishopsworth, Hartcliffe and Whitchurch Park NP

posted ‎‎18 Sep 2009 01:42‎‎ by Heather Williams   [ updated ‎‎19 Sep 2009 04:02‎‎ by Anne-Marie Rogers ]

This Neighbourhood Partnership meeting was well attended, residents came to hear about the South Bristol Community Hospital and to find out when the build would actually start.

Many residents thought that the big building that has been progressing on the edge of the site was the new hospital build. This is, in fact, the Skills Academy that will offer excellent training for the local community.

Here isa copy of the question and answers from the meeting and a presentation given by Bristol Community Health.

There are more opportunities for local residents to be involved in the project  with future consultations around transport, designing public art and there will be excellent opportunities for volunteering and employment.

If you would like to be on a mailing list for information regarding the Bishopsworth, Hartcliffe and Whitchurch Park Neighbourhood Partnership please contact Heather Williams: heather.williams@hwcp.org.uk

The Bishopsworth, Hartcliffe and Whitchurch Park Neighbourhood Partnership covers residents who live in these three wards. This includes residents who live in the area of Withywood.

Vote for the Hartcliffe Children's Centre to win favourite community building award

posted ‎‎3 Sep 2009 02:31‎‎ by Anne-Marie Rogers

Come on everyone, let's help the Hartcliffe Children's Centre to win favourite community building award!

You've got till September 11 to vote - just visit www.thisisbristol.co.uk/ribaawards and click on the voting column to the right.

There was a piece about the award in the Bristol Evening Post - see below.

Tell us what is your favourite community building
Saturday, August 29, 2009,
http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/news/Tell-favourite-community-building/article-1294884-detail/article.html
They are spaces where mums meet, children play and groups come together and now Evening Post readers can vote on their favourite community building.

As part of the Royal Institute of British Architects South West's annual Town & Country Design awards, four buildings that make a real difference to those who rely on them have been shortlisted for the Community Award.
St Nicholas of Tolentino church in Lawrence Hill and Hartcliffe children's centre are the Bristol buildings bidding for the prize with Market House in Martock, and Minehead Enterprise Park, the Somerset contenders.

Jon Watkins, head of RIBA South West, said: "Recognising good design for purpose is a principle of RIBA's aim to advance architecture by demonstrating benefit to society and this award asks readers to choose what makes good architecture fit for purpose in their neck of the woods."

To vote on your favourite building visit www.thisisbristol.co.uk/ribaawards. The deadline for voting is September 11.

The winning project, as voted by our readers, will be presented with the award at a ceremony at FutureInn Cabot Circus on September 30, hosted by chief executive of the UK Green Building Council Paul King and the Lord Mayor of Bristol.
