Certificate Courses:
Spinning Certificate Course starts in MARCH 2011.
The course runs over 10 weeks (on a Tuesday) from 10 am - 1 pm. If you are interested in attending, contact the Guild NOW! All registrations must be received by Sat 5th March.
Weaving Certificate Courses: There are a number of Weaving Certificates that are offered by the Guild, when there is enough interest. Weaving Certificate courses are generally offered on a Wednesday or Thursday, from 10.00 a.m. - 12.30 p.m., for 10 weeks.
1. Introduction to Weaving The course will cover an introduction to loom controlled weaving on 4 shaft looms, including How to prepare warps and dress the loom; exercises in plain weave, colour, twill, texture, finger manipulated weaves; how to draft; how to plan a project; finishing and problem solving. Each student will finish a set of samples and on completion of the course, each student will receive a certificate. Tutor: Bev Bills, Cost: $125.00
2. Pattern Weaving 1 This course is an exploration of patterned weaves and will extend your knowledge of drafting. Weaves to be covered include Overshot, Bronson Lace, Summer & Winter, Rosepath, Double weave, Crackle weave, and rug weave (twill). Prerequisite: Introduction to Weaving Certificate or equivalent experience. Tutor: Bev Bills, Cost: $125.00
3. Pattern Weaving 2 This course is a further exploration of patterned weaving. Tutor: Bev Bills, Cost: $125.00.
Spinning Certificate Courses: Two Spinning Certificates are offered by the Guild, when there is enough interest. Please let the workshop convenor know of your interest.
1. Introduction to Spinning Learn how to card, spin and learn about some of the commonly available fibres.
2. Advanced Spinning Certificate This course consists of topics offered as a series of individual workshops, run over two to three years. They are counted toward the Advanced Spinning Certificate (in which case a workbook is required). These workshops can be done on a one-off basis as well. These will be advertised in the Workshop information with an indication that they can be counted toward the Certificate See information on workshops listed on the workshops page.
