Volunteers are vital to the Guild. What sorts of volunteers do we need right now? Beryl and Janet will be retiring after our Christmas meeting. Without help we will have to close our kitchen. We need someone (or a small group) to organise the kitchen and others to join a roster to serve cups of tea and cakes or make / bring snacks for morning tea. Why should you volunteer some of your time to help the Guild? It is a great way to get to know more about the Guild and its members. If you have ideas about what the Guild should be doing, don't wait for someone else to do something about it, volunteer some of your time to get the job done. What if you don't have a lot of spare time? You don't need to volunteer heaps of time. An hour at one of our monthly meetings is useful! Helping out as a sales person in the Little Glory Gallery can be done monthly or on a less than monthly basis. How can you volunteer? If you'd like to volunteer some of your time to help the Guild, see any Committee member at a monthly meeting or email us on spinweavesa@gmail.com. Without volunteers, our Little Glory Gallery would look like this! Which Guild positions are held by volunteers? All Guild management positions are held by volunteers. This includes every elected position (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Committee members) as well as every position of responsibility, (such as Membership Secretary, Yarn Table manager, Workshop Convenor, Equipment manager, Yarn Buyer, Librarian, Guild News Editor, and the like). All of our sales positions, (whether in our Little Glory Gallery, or on meeting days on the Yarn Table, Trading Table and in the kitchen) are staffed by Volunteers. A volunteer works at the Yarn Table (with the Membership Secretaries - also volunteers - in the background). Other volunteers run our raffles, organise, hang and staff our exhibitions, and demonstrate our crafts in public. Our Little Glory Gallery volunteers assess stock to make sure it meets our high standards, create the displays of members crafts, and staff the Gallery when it is open - on Wed, Sat and Sun each week. |
