Why does the Guild exist?
  • To bring together persons to practice the crafts of handspinning, weaving, dyeing and associated crafts for their mutual benefit.
  • For the advancement of these crafts by workshops, discussions and exhibition of works.
How do I join?
  • Click here for online membership application form.
  • Attend our monthly meeting on the first Saturday in the month (except January) and pay your membership fees directly to our membership secretary.
  • Visit our Little Glory Gallery (which is open on Wed, Sat and Sun) to fill our membership forms and leave your membership fees with our sales people.
  • Send a cheque covering your membership fees along with a stamped self-addressed envelope (for return of your membership shield) to Handspinners and Weavers Guild of South Australia, PO Box 163, Torrensville Plaza, SA 5031.

What are membership fees
for the Guild year Nov 2011 - Oct 2012?

Membership commences from November each year. Pro rata rates apply from May until the renewal date of October.
 If you are joining after April, please contact our Membership Secretary to find out what the appropriate membership fee is.

Membership Fee: $44.00
Family membership: $77.00
Country membership (more than 30 kms. from Adelaide GPO) $33.00
Interstate membership: $33.00
(All membership fees include GST.)
A joining fee of $11 is required of all new members. 
A late fee of $5.50 will apply for all lapsed members after February.



What benefits are available for members? 
  • All members can attend our regular meetings: 
Meetings are held on the first Saturday of each month (Except January), at the Guild Hall, 196 South Road, Mile End (corner of South Road and Lurline Street). The doors open at 10 am.  The library opens at 10:30 am, and yarns, fleece and other supplies may be purchased and equipment (spinning wheels and looms) may be hired.  Tea, coffee and other refreshments are available for a small charge.  Members are encouraged to display recently completed craft work.  Official business is discussed at 12:15 pm.  A guest speaker usually follows the business meeting.
  • All members receive the Guild News: 
The Guild News is published bi-monthly and posted to all members. It includes information on up-coming events and reports on what the Guild has been involved in.


  • All members can join informal groups: 
Informal Groups meet regularly through the week at the Guild. All members are welcome to join these groups. A small donation is requested. For information of any of these groups phone the Guild (8352 4843). 
The groups include: Spinning Get Together (spinning taught): Tuesdays, 9:30 am - 1 pm, Weaver Birds 1 (Mainly Tapestry Weaving) Group: Wednesdays, 10:30 am - 2 pm., and Weaver Birds 2 (Spinning & Weaving): Thursdays, 10:30 am - 2 pm. 
Other groups meet at the weekends or in the evening: Night Owls Group: 1st & 3rd Wednesday, 6:45 pm., Feltmaking: Third Sunday of each month, Papermaking: irregularly.
Members in several districts hold their own friendly meetings to share techniques and ideas. Details of these meetings can be found on the Guild noticeboard.


  • All members can learn through workshops: 
Workshops and Certificate Courses are arranged through the year to pass on a variety of skills associated with the crafts. Tutors include Guild members and interstate and overseas craftspersons as well. Information about current workshop and certificate courses is included on this website.   • All members can sell their crafts through the Little Glory Gallery: 
The Little Glory Gallery is the Guild’s sales outlet for members crafts. 
Crafts sold in the Gallery are scrutinised by a representative of the Guild to ensure a high standard of work is maintained.
