Guild Birthday Honours Guild Birthday Honours will be awarded in recognition of a member’s significant contribution to the Guild in the following categories: Service – for extended period of excellent service in any area of responsibility. Teaching – for excellence in teaching skills and for the support, encouragement and extension of others. Craftsmanship – for excellence in craftsmanship. A person is eligible to receive an award in more than one area, but no person can receive more than one award per year. A person cannot be awarded the same award within five years. No more than one award per year in each area shall be awarded; however, under exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the Guild Committee, more than one award per year can be given. Awards will be made at the May meeting birthday celebrations each year. In exceptional circumstances, the Guild Committee can make the award at times other than the Guild birthday. Recipients of the award shall receive the appropriate badge, i.e. Service Badge, Teaching Badge or Craftsmanship Badge, and a certificate and the award shall be documented in the Guild Birthday Honours book. Do you want to nominate a Guild member for a Birthday Honour? Nominations must be submitted to the Guild Committee on the Guild Birthday Honours Nomination Form, which is attached on this page as a .pdf. The nomination form includes some guidelines for filling in the nomination form. The nomination form provides full details about the awards. When are nominations due? Nominations must be presented to the Committee by the March Guild meeting each year.
What happens after a nomination has been received? Once a nomination is received, the Guild Committee will research and validate whether the nominee is deserving of the award. Award winners will be chosen from the nominations received and announced at the Guild's Birthday meeting in May. |
