A Word From Our HSA President: December 2008
Dear Hamilton Families,
I hope that everyone had a truly wonderful Thanksgiving and recess! I feel that in these difficult economic times, it is important to take a moment to reflect on the things we have to be thankful for, especially as we move into the busy holiday season. I am always grateful for any reminder to slow down and enjoy my family, so I hope you all got to do just that! Speaking of the holidays, we have some great happenings this month to celebrate the spirit of giving! This week, December 1-5th, we are running our annual Toy Drive. Go through those closets for any unused, unwrapped toys that may be getting no use. Or, if you are so inclined, purchase a toy or two to donate. I do this with my kids every year, so that they know that an unused toy is always better off with a boy or girl who really needs and wants it! Collection boxes will be in the lobby all week, and usually we have a HUGE response to this event, so I hope that will be the case this year also! All toys will be donated to the NJ Community Development Corp. in Paterson and to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. The following week we are trying something new. Our annual Holiday Shop will be held in conjunction with Wee Can Shop in Hawthorne. Details have already come home on this, so don't forget your flyer when you go shopping! You can also download additional flyers from our website. We will receive a percentage of the sales that week, and the kids will have a lovely selection of gifts for their families. For the first time, we are following the lead of some of the other elementary schools in town and skipping our December HSA meeting. It always seemed a difficult time for people to get out for a meeting at school, and our attendance was always low. Keep in mind though, that if there are any concerns that need to be brought to the HSA's attention, you can always contact a Board Member through the HSA website. I hope to see all of you at the annual Winter Concert on December 17th, and at the annual Sing-a-long on December 23rd. Both of these events celebrate the true meaning of the Holidays - family and friends! Wishing you all a happy and peaceful holiday season!
Be on the lookout for our new and improved website. Our communications committee has been hard at work organizing a new website for Hamilton school. We are trying to scale down the emails a bit, so you will have to take some responsibility for checking the website to get all your forms and info. We are following the district guidelines on this and trying to be a little more efficient, so now is a good time to get in the habit of keeping yourself in the loop by checking the website!
