Volunteer positions available:
Pre Event Promotion Pre Event Promotion Volunteers will work with the Cycle Committee and the Chapter Office in distributing Cycle posters to merchants etc in the Region. This volunteer activity will begin the week of August 24 and depending on the number of volunteers it would require a time commitment of 2-3 hours at your determined schedule to take posters to the stores in your community, downtown, Burlington, Georgetown, Milton, Oakville and surrounding areas.
Face Painting Face Painting Volunteers will be responsible for the face painting station throughout the course of the event. At the beginning of the day they will collect their materials from the Entertainment Chair and set up at their designated station. For the rest of the day they will be responsible for painting the faces of the children attending the event. At the end of the event the Face Painting volunteers will clean up their station and give their materials back to the Entertainment Chair.
Registration Registration Volunteers will meet with the Registration Chair at the beginning of the day to receive their necessary supplies as well as their instructions for what needs to be done during the registration process. Registration volunteers will then process the registrations of arriving participants. Once the Cycle has started and and registration is over volunteers will deliver all necessary paperwork back the Registration Chair.
Marketplace-Set Up & Take Down Marketplace Volunteers upon arrival in the morning will report to the Marketplace Chair to receive instructions on the set up of the Marketplace. This could include but isn’t limited to setting up tables, chairs and tents. After receiving instructions, volunteers will begin with the necessary set up. At the end of the event Marketplace volunteers will report back to the Marketplace chair to receive instructions on take down. This will include but isn’t limited to taking down chairs, tables and tents.
Awareness Booth Awareness Booth Volunteers will report to the Marketplace chair to receive the necessary supplies for the booth. After receiving the supplies the volunteer will go to the designated area and set up the booth. Throughout the event the volunteer will provide information to participants and keep the booth stocked with the necessary literature. At the end of the event the volunteer will take down the booth and give all necessary supplies back the Marketplace chair.
Cycle Route Cycle Route Volunteers will report to their designated chair upon arrival. Prior to the Cycle starting all volunteers will report to their area along the route. Volunteers will either be standing at various markers or riding in the Cycle. Volunteers standing at markers will be providing encouragement for riders as well as providing help for anyone who may need it during the ride. Volunteers riding will help keep the riders around them on track and stop and help anyone who may need help during the ride.
Set Up and Take Down Set Up and Take Down Volunteers will report to the Logistics chair upon arrival to the site. The will receive instructions on what needs to be set up and where. Volunteers will be helping to set up tents, activities, route markers, route signs, etc. At the end of the event volunteers will be helping to take down anything that went up during set up under the supervision of the logistics chair. The goal is to leave the area as clean and neat as when we arrived.
Roaming Raffle Raffle Volunteers will report to a designated committee member at the beginning of the event to receive tickets and a container for money. Throughout the event volunteers will wonder around asking people if they would like to buy raffle tickets. Towards the end of the event volunteers will draw tickets and announce the winners of the raffle prizes. At the end of the event volunteers will give the remaining tickets and money to the committee member they were reporting to.
Gate Greeters Gate Greeter Volunteers will upon arrival report to the designated committee member to receive instructions or information. Volunteers will then go and stand at the main gate and entry way of Breckon Shelter to greet participants. Volunteers will point out registration and the activities as well as answer any questions participants may have. Greeters will stand at the gate until the cycle has started.
Activities Activity Volunteers will arrive at area adjacent to the Breckon Shelter for set up of their activity. Upon arrival volunteers will report to the entertainment chair to receive instructions and supplies necessary for the activity. Volunteers will watch children participating in the activity for safety as well as monitor people coming on and off the activity. Volunteers will also be responsible for handing out any prizes that may come with their activity. Activities will range from bouncy slides to carnival games. At the end of the event volunteers will take down their activity and give any necessary supplies back to the entertainment chair. |
