Welcome to Haoying (Halking)'s website! I am a Ph.D. Candidate in both Agricultural, Environmental and Regional Economics (AEREC) and Operations Research (OR) at Pennsylvania State University, all degrees are expected by summer 2014. My home department is AERS, where I have been serving as a research assistant in econometric modeling and applied economics since August 2010. As a student, I am interested in exploring both the applied and theoretical sides of economics. My dissertation work tackles the mechanism of sequential decision-making behavior from a perspective of microeconometrics and spatial econometrics, with empirical application in urban & regional economics and environmental economics. This series of research presents important methodological contribution to analysis of individual and social behavior, such as modeling of land conversion and urban planning process, highway construction and its economic consequence, adoption of environmental policy innovation and technologies, etc. As a research assistant at AERS department, I have been working with Dr. H. Allen Klaiber (Penn State, and then Ohio State since 08/2011) on housing supply, land conversion, highway construction, and related issues in urban area. To know more about my research, please go to my Research page. To know more about my school life and myself, please click on the side navigation bars on the left, you can see my working paper and publication, coursework, and etc. Currently, I live in State College, Pennsylvania, a place with beautiful autumn and winter. From 2008 to 2010, I lived in Tucson, Arizona, where I learned a lot both about life and econometrics, and I met some life-long sincere friends there. I enjoy both Tucson and State College, even though people always give different definitions to these two cities in their conceptualization. And, anytime, please feel free to Contact Me. |
