My name is Hai Vu. I live in Mill Creek, a small town about 15 miles north of Seattle, Washington. I originally came from Vietnam, where I attended part of high school in Colorado Springs, Colorado. My education includes a BS in computer science from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Fresh off college, I came to Washington state and worked for Microsoft 10 years (1991-2001). In 2001, I quitted my job to spend time with my family. In 2004, I started my MBA program at the University of Phoenix and recently graduated with an MBA in technology management. My goal is to work as a manager in a high tech environment, where I can contribute my learning and experience to my company, personal growth, and the growth of my colleagues.

Family Photos and Videos

Over the years, I have taken many pictures, store them everwhere and got sick of the limitations the free services imposed such as file size, limited duration. Finally, I settled with Smugmug.com after doing my research. So far, Smugmug fullfills my needs. I also use the free  Putfile.com to store my videos and am happy with its performance.

My hobby: photography

I have been learning photography and really enjoy taking pictures despite the less-than-average outcomes. Now aday, my primary camera is the Fujifilm S2Pro DSLR. I also keep a smaller camera with me most of the time, just in case creativity strucks. On the web, I mostly hang out at the Fujifilm SLR forum at DPReview website. Since I also own a canon camera, I also visit the Canon forum.

My cameras

I have owned a number of cameras through the years. The first one was a one mega pixel camera from Kodak that I think the DC200, but not so sure. Below is a list of my cameras in reverse chronological order. Of these cameras, I still own the D200, LC1, and A610. The D200 is currently my favorite.

  • Nikon DSLR D200 is my latest and favorite camera. I am planning to write a short review to express my opinion on this camera. Read about it soon.
  • Panasonic DMC-LC1, a prosumer-level point-and-shoot that is the Leica Digilux 2 twin.. You can read about my impressions of this camera in my blog.
  • Canon A610 is a wonderful, well-rounded point-and-shoot camera.
  • Fujifilm F10, an outstanding lowlight performer that can pump the ISO to 1600 while maintaining resonably low noise.
  • Panasonic DMC-FX7, one of my favorite: small, image stabilization, 2.5" screen, excellent picture quality.
  • Fujifilm S2pro has excellent picture quality, hard-to-beat skin tone.
  • Nikon Coolpix 5000. I had too many thowaways with this camera. It works well for somebody, but not me.
  • Nikon Coolpix 995. I quickly sold this one to get the Coolpix 5000: I did not like the swivel lens.
  • A Kodak 1MP camera, the DC200. This was my first digital camera.
