HAITI

The  island country of Haiti is small and densely populated and has seen more than it's fair share of tragedy.  Already the poorest country in the Western hemisphere, a catastrophic 7.0 magnitude earthquake rocked the country on January 12, 2010.  Recovery continues with international support, but there is a very long road ahead of the Haitian people.

This pathfinder will help you find information about the quake itself, about the country of Haiti and the people who live there.  There are also many resources for learning more about earthquakes in general.  The electronic materials provide video and audio experiences of scientific explanations, musical fund raising, and disaster footage as well as links to other web resources such as blogs and the latest news.

This pathfinder will also teach you how to find additional resources on your own.  It will be useful in learning about Haiti particularly because the websites and books were carefully selected as up-to-date and accurate resources for young students.

You will also find suggestions about how kids from around the world have and can continue to help their Haitian brothers and sisters.
