Board Positions

General Qualifications:
  • A Board Member can hold only 1 Board Position at a time
  • Must be a current GYSA Member
  • Elected by the Members of the GYSA at the Annual Meeting
2-Year Term Expires on Odd-Numbered Years


President
  • CEO of the GYSA
  • Required to attend all Board, Coaches, and Annual GYSA meetings
  • Serves as Essex County Youth Soccer (ECYSA) Town Director for Georgetown
  • Required to attend all ECYSA meetings
  • Forms special committees that report to the Board
  • Appoints Age Directors
  • Determines payment approval for all invoices
  • Serves on the Georgetown Athletics Association (GAA) Board of Directors
Treasurer
  • Maintains an accurate financial record of GYSA
  • Creates and presents an annual report, including a Budget, for the GAA and GYSA Annual General Meeting
  • Maintains a log of all Vendors/Suppliers
  • Works closely with GAA Treasurer to confirm registration deposits and vendor payments
  • Monitors and ensures collection of registration fees
  • Reports registration revenue to the Board
  • Prepared pre-season budget with known, recurring expenses
  • Advises the Board on the financial strength of the GYSA
Director of In-Town Programs
  • Responsible for Scheduling, Team Formation and Referees for the U8 program
  • Coordinates and oversee the Kindergarten Clinic (U6) program
  • Oversees the In-Town Age Directors
  • Works with Director of Communications to promote In-Town Program registration
  • Works with Director of Player and Coach Development to coordinate professional and amateur coaches
Director of Equipment
  • Responsible for all GYSA physical equipment
  • Create and present a semi-annual report detailing the whereabouts of all GYSA equipment to the Board, and make recommendations on what needs to be purchased for the upcoming season
  • Orders all equipment through selected Vendors/Suppliers
  • Submits any purchase over $250 to the Board of Directors for majority approval




2-Year Term Expires on Even-Numbered Years

Vice President
  • Primarily serves as the GYSA Travel Director
  • Perform the duties of the President if s/he is absent or unable
  • Required to attend all ECYSA meetings
  • Serves as Chairman of Team Formation Committee
  • Oversees the responsibilities of the Travel Age Directors
Registrar
  • Registers all players and coaches
  • Responsible for properly affiliating all players, coaches, and administrators with the Essex County Youth Soccer Association (ECYSA) and Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association (MYSA)
  • Responsible for properly placing GYSA teams into ECYSA
  • Collects and deposits all registration fees in a timely matter
  • Reports all the banking transactions to the GYSA Treasurer
  • Informs the GYSA Treasurer of any fees associated with registration of players, coaches, and administers to ECYSA and/or MYSA in a timely manner

Director of Player and Coach Development
  • Responsible for creating, contracting, administering and managing all development programs for the players, coaches and referees
  • Responsible for Try-outs and evaluation of players and coaches
  • Ensures at least one (1) annual summer soccer camp is held in Georgetown
  • Maintains a working relationship with High School, local Colleges, Professional coaching organizations as well as men’s & women’s Professional teams
  • Works with the In-Town Director to assign referees to the in-town program
Director of Fields
  • Responsible for the upkeep of each field, including but not limited to, fields are mowed, seeding, watering, lining the fields, field usage, and Port-A-Potty (rental).
  • Responsible for securing permits from the town for use of these fields.

Director of Communications
  • Stores and maintains a paper copy of all records and information
  • Responsible for the upkeep of all records including Minutes, By-Law and changes, Operational Rules and changes, and yearly calendar of events
  • Responsible for keeping the membership informed on all Authority activities, including but not limited to, monthly/annual/special meeting(s), registrations, GYSA sponsored summer camps, and minutes of the meetings through the web site, newspapers, flyers for school distribution
