From Our President:

Speaking directly from experience, there are few things more rewarding than watching your child and their friends enjoy a game of soccer - and knowing that it wouldn't have happened without your involvement. I've played soccer all of my life. Many of my best memories come from time spent on and off the field with my teammates and my coaches. More importantly, many of the lessons I learned about being a team player, self-respect, and leadership came from the countless hours I spent simply kicking a ball around with friends. As an adult and a parent, I felt it was important to give my children and my neighbors' children the opportunity to learn what soccer has to teach. 

I joined the GYSA as a coach for my daughter's U8 team. Soon after, the Board position of In-Town Director became available, I volunteered and was elected. I believe I made some valuable improvements to the In-Town program during my 2 years in that role, but more importantly I learned what it takes to make soccer work in Georgetown. Quite honestly, it takes a tremendous amount of hard work, dedication, and camaraderie from over 100 of our town's finest parents as coaches and Board members. Add to that the amazing commitment and energy from the families of our players and soccer becomes more than a sport, it's a community. Being elected as President by this community is truly an honor and a privilege.

Soccer in Georgetown has been great, and all of us at the GYSA are excited and extremely optimistic about the advances and improvements that are planned for the coming seasons to make it even better. I invite and encourage you to become a part of the Georgetown Soccer Community by volunteering to be a leader in the GYSA. Whether as a head coach, assistant coach, committee or Board member - you'll be amazed by the return on your investment in the youth (and future) of Georgetown!
