Instructions for submitting Gallery photos

Using Elements 2.0, 5.0, or CS3 (Scroll down to see all 3 versions)

Note: Photoshop "Save for Web" will automatically resized your image to 72 pixels per inch (ppi). You do not have to adjust your ppi.

[Before starting, it is recommended that you create a folder called Web or Gallery to put the pictures in that will be resized for the web.]

From Elements 5.0 Editor

  1. Click File>Save for Web. The images exceeds the size for the Web box will appear, click Yes.
  2. The Save for Web Editor will display with two identical 100% size photos. You will only see a partial picture in each--that's normal.
  3. On the right side, click Preset>high. [The Quality box will indicate 60].
  4. JPEG medium will be selected. You will only have to do this once since Elements will remember this setting.
  5. In the New Size box, set the largest dimension of your picture for 600 pixels, and then click Apply.
  6. In a moment you will see two pictures. The picture on the left is the original and the picture on the right is the reduced web-size picture.
  7. Click OK to accept this picture.
  8. The Save Optimized box will display. Save In will let you select a folder where you can put the web-sized photos.
  9. Select the folder then click Save. The resized picture is now saved in that folder and can be emailed to me at farberc@comcast.net . I will put it in the Gallery.
