GW Camera Club

Competition Rules

1): You may only enter a maximum of 5 color and 5 B&W images per competition.

A maximum of 5 color and 5 monochrome (B&W) images may be entered in any single competition. For example, if you entered 3 color images for "Open" category you may enter a maximum of only 2 color images for "Theme Color" category. The same rules apply for B&W images. If you entered 2 images for "Open B&W you may only enter a maximum of 3 images for "Theme B&W".

Monochrome can consist of a range of tones of different shades of a single color and may also have one shade of another color. We commonly refer to monochrome as B&W since most of us print in shades of gray but any other shade of a single color may be used. For example, sepia is shades of brown which is commonly used to to simulate an old photograph. Another example could be a field of flowers with a girl who is wearing a hat. The entire picture could be shades of blue and the girl could have a red hat. The red hat can only be one shade of red and the image may contain no other shade of red.

2) All images must entered using the web-based "Image Entry Form" and can be submitted anytime prior to the Competition but no later than midnight on the Monday before the competition.
Prints must be brought to (left in) the Clubhouse Dark-Room by Tuesday afternoon @ 1:30PM, the day before the Competition. If you are not planning to attend the competition, you may still leave the prints in the darkroom. The prints must be clearly marked "For Competition".

3) Please note that most judges will give a low score to Images that are someone elses artwork (if the artwork is the main subject of the image) unless the image clearly shows that the image is the makers vision and not the vision of the artist. For example: images of a painting, photograph, illustration, statue, etc. where that image is clearly the subject of the image can expect to receive a low score from most judges.

4) An image can only be reentered if it receives a score of 6 or below--and it can only be reentered only once. Different images of the same subject must be sufficiently unique that they will not be confused with previously submitted entries.

5) If any print has glue or any material on it which can damage another print, it will NOT be allowed in the competition.

6) Any prints entered which do not meet our competition criteria will be disqualified or not allowed in the competition.

7) Submitted images must be the work of the Member. That is, the picture must be taken by and edited by the member. Images printed via a Kiosk [CVS or at some other location] are acceptable.

8) Use of double mats to mount prints is not permitted. Do not use foam mats, most will not fit our frames.

9) Any picture entered as a color print may NOT be entered as a B&W print.

10) Prints labels that are not completly fill out will be disqualified. See "Print Lables" for instructions for filling out print labels. (http://sites.google.com/site/gwcameraclub/Home/print-labels-1)
