Guy Gallo was
born and raised in New Orleans and has lived in the Northeast since
escaping soon after high school. He began his writing
career as a playwright: Failing (1977), Rain in
Lent (1979) and Peter and Wendy (1981). He then
took a hectic sojourn in the land of film, writing several screenplays,
including Under the Volcano (1984) and Adventures of
Huckleberry Finn (1985). His poetry and fiction have
been published in BOMB and the Mississippi Review. He teaches screenwriting at Columbia University and Barnard College. His blog, Screenwriter's Compass, is a collection of thoughts about writing, Hollywood, and surviving both. His most recent screenplay, The Last Christmas, was written in collaboration with Jeannine Dominy, his wife. His most recent plays are Passage and Still Life with Nude and God and Sex. He is also the author of a set of tools for writers called Wright Works. |
