Shopping in Edinburgh

Shopping in Edinburgh means you can have it all, from those well known brand names such as Zara and H and M, to more expensive shops like Harvey Nichols and Jenners to small individual shops.

The main shopping street is Prince's Street which offers, on the north side all the main departments stores, for example Brittsh Home Store, and on the south the beautiful Prince's Street gardens just below the castle giving the place and elegant feel. George Street is situated behind Prince's Street and houses the more up market shops and boutiques. Alongside Prince's Street you will also find Prince's street gardens which offer you a place to sit and relax with a wonderful view of the castle of for the children to run off some excess energy. In winter the gardens are turned into a winter wonderland with ferris wheels, fun fair rides, an outdoor ice rink and a German market.

If you are looking for those traditional Scottish gifts and presents of tartan, shortbread or wool then head to the Royal Mile where you will have plenty to choose from, as well as a chance to sample some handmade Scottish fudge in the fudge shop, made right in front of you.
For those looking for something different, head down Grassmarket where you will find some most exciting and different gifts at reasonable prices. This area is good for second hand books, antiques and art.

The city also has two shopping centers located in the middle of town and one slightly further away at Ocean Terminal. These centers have a number of shops such as Thorntons, John Lewis, New Look but also have some cafes and places to grab that well needed rest.
