Family:

My family and I are originally from Managua, Nicaragua in Central America. I am the youngest of four boys in my family, and my mom and dad raised us to always value education.

I was not born in this country. I was born in Nicaragua, and  I came to the United States when I was only three years of age. My brothers and I had to learn English because we only spoke Spanish, so I understand how hard it is to learn a new language. Today I speak both languages and I think it is honor to know more than one language.

In 2006, I got married to the most wonderful person in the world! My wife’s name is Heidi and she teaches first grade at Encanto Elementary School also in the Osborn School District. I love my wife because she is a strong, independent, and an educated person who loves me for who I am and what I will become.

My family also includes two dogs named Bella and Cubby. They are high energy Chihuahuas that keep us busy all day long!

Update:

Recently, I have been working on writing a grant for the classroom through Wells Fargo. The grant is for the amount of $500.00 and it will allow my students to use digital media from cameras, scanners, and video recorders to create a digital science notebook. In this way students can archive and share their science learning in a variety of ways.

I just returned from a short trip to Orlando, Florida where I spent some time with my family at Walt Disney World. I enjoy spending time with my family and the trip was fun and educational. I would recommend it to anyone.

On July 19-23 I will be at a teaching conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. The conference will focus on the idea of a "Professional Learning Community" (PLC) and how we all can make learning a positive social interaction where everyone is invested and involved.
