Korinthia Dawn

1:20am
Saturday I went to the hospital because I thought I was leaking fluid. Which I was, but just a little bit and everything else looked ok so they sent me home.
Sunday I went in AGAIN, because I had been leaking more fluid, and a lot of it. When I went on Saturday the nice nurse said I was still only about 2 ½ cm. She was there again when I got there on Sunday and said I was now a little over3 cm. Then the change in shifts came. Suddenly I have a new nurse, and I don't like her one bit!
First of all she checked me and told me I was barely 1 cm… what the heck? I am going backwards? Then
she told me it wasn't amniotic fluid… and basically accused me of
making it all up just because I was tired of being pregnant… She
lectured me about a baby is like a turnkey and you wouldn't take the
turkey out of the oven and serve it to your family before it was done
so you shouldn't try to hurry the baby. She was rude and she made me cry.
So she sent me home, I was in tears, which makes Jereme none to happy, but at least I filed a complaint. They gave me a sleeping pill to take because I hadn't been sleeping at all, so I took that and went to bed. I had been in the hospital from around 5ish till about 8:30 or 9.
At 11:30 I woke up
having contractions that were pretty painful, but I wasn't about to
have another false alarm so I decided I would take a bath and see if it
helped at all. Jereme came and sat in the tub with me for awhile trying to make me feel better. He rubbed my back a little bit by 12:30ish I decided I should go to the hospital. So I called my mom and she and my sister started up to the house. We were going to wait till they got there so Mandi could stay with Malaki and Lillie while they were sleeping. At around 1 I decided I couldn't wait that long, so I called my aunt Kathy. Bruce (my uncle) answered the phone. I asked is Kathy was there and he said no… well that threw me off… it is 1 in the morning, where is she?!?! However I was having another contraction so I didn't ask. He
offered to come stay with the kids but I was in pain and so confused by
Kathy being gone that I told him not to worry about it, that we would
just take the kids with us.
So I told Jereme to go load the kids in the car, I was going to go to the bathroom and then we would go. However, I felt a lot of pressure so I reach down and start yelling for Jereme to get back in the house, I can feel the head! He
thought I meant if I tried to do an exam on myself I could feel the
head, so he told me to go get in the car, we can make it to the
hospital. I told him there was no way, I am pretty much just holding the baby in, so he threw some towels on the bed and called 911. I used the cell to call my mom. Mom talked to me and kept me calm, I wasn't sure if it was ok to push or not, she told me to go ahead. The
911 nurse on the phone with Jereme was no help, she called dispatch and
sent an ambulance, but other than that she was clueless, and WAY more
nervous than Jereme or I. He finally tossed the phone on the bed; she obviously wasn't going to be of any help.
Thankfully it was fast. I only had to push twice and Jereme did a great job of staying calm and helping me. We
could here the paramedics outside so we didn't worry about the cord, we
just waited for them to come in and take care of that.
Korinthia Dawn was born at 1:20am, less than 2 hours of labor.
Jereme said from the time I told him I could feel the head till the time I had her was 9 minutes.
That includes waiting to get people on the phone and assure me it was ok to push.
She was a little
tangled in the cord, which Jereme unwrapped her from very carefully as
soon as she was born, it wasn't choking her or anything, it was just
loosely tangled.
The paramedics loaded me on to the gurney and I took my first ambulance ride to the hospital. Jereme put Malaki in the car (Lillie was in there sleeping the whole time) and followed us to the hospital. I think we got there a little after 2.
The mean nurse came in the room and asked me what I was doing back. Well you sent me home so I had the baby in bed… I wanted to say all kinds of things to her, but I am to nice for that. She
tried to tell me how to nurse the baby and Jereme stepped in and told
her I had 2 other kids and I could handle it on my own. She got a little miffed and then left. She wasn't supposed to be in there in the first place and thankfully we didn't see her again during the rest of the stay.
We left the hospital around 1:30, so I was there for less than 12 hours which was nice.
Malaki and Lillie love their "Koi"
And Kori loves to watch them run and play
I am going to have my hands full when she starts joining in with them
