Welcome to the Zion Lutheran Church Gsus GuiTaR Ensemble web site! Our Calendar for 2009-10 calls for practice on two consecutive Tuesday evenings prior to our designated Sunday. We usually play five or six times per year, including Music Appreciation Sunday in May, as well as an occasional "road trip" to one of our Music Ministry Partners.

Interested in joining the ensemble?  Don't worry if you're inexperienced - or an expert.  We embrace all skill levels.  Gsus GTRs welcomes variety too!  Please check out the Tools of our trade to see the types of instruments we use and to read about their back stories.

Bring your GTR, voice, whatever to rehearsal.  We have percussion, piano and marimba, so you don't need to bring yours along.  You can see rehearsal
Craziness and Sunday Solemness in the photos and Videos sections.  No pressure!  You don't have to play or sing during both services.  It's fun, a great way to learn band dynamics, and to teach.  Fellowship and a real band: can't be beat!  And our TShirts are just tragically hip (actually, we're not quite there yet), and we have extra (umm, well).

Have an idea for a song?  Gsus GTRs embraces many styles!  We totally enjoy the challenge of adapting main-stream Christian, folk, rock, pop, jazz, blues - you name it - to fit various seasonal settings of the Church, and of course to run in the allotted
Time.  The evolving Playlist, Repertoire and bulletin Inserts show what we've been up to.

On Sundays the Ensemble is responsible for the Prelude, Peace, Offertory, and Postlude.  The Minister of Music turns off the organ console in favor of piano, and along with the Chancel Choir we lead the service with acoustic instruments and electric GTRs.  A real "plugged" and "unplugged" experience!  The Ensemble and members of the Chancel Choir provide all choral support.  We do not practice together as a large group, except for a few minutes before the 8 AM service.  Learning and playing through the hymns and the
Liturgy at the last minute is ... well, it's quite exhilarating.

Needless to say, we have a heavy reliance on the power of the Holy Spirit ... and
Prayer!  In all we do, we do for the Glory and the Power and the Honor of our Creator, Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  We are blessed to be able to make a Joyful sound, and for the support offered by Zion Lutheran Church and its staff.  Amen!
