Fall 2009

 

1. Two weeks of sign up sheets will be available at every sister meeting in the blue project folder.  After that, they will be in the GammaSig office during office hours for you to sign up.  Projects that are online will also have two weeks of projects online.  You can sign up for them at any time.

 

2. When signing up for a project (IN PEN!) on paper, include your phone number and email address. Please remember to write neatly so that the project chair can email you to remind you to go to the project or to let you know that the project is canceled.  

            a. Driver spots are highlighted in YELLOW.

                    i. Signing up in this space means you MUST drive!

                    ii. You receive one extra hour for driving.

 

3. When signing up for a project online, fill in ALL of the required sections and then hit SUBMIT.  By refreshing the screen, you can see you name on the list *if* you are signed into the sisterhood email address.

a. Drivers will be taken on a first come first serve basis.  If there is room for one driver but     three sign up to be drivers, the first on the list will be a driver. You will receive one extra hour for driving.

b. If more people sign up than are spaces, those who signed up first will get to go on the project.

 

4. DO NOT CROSS YOUR NAME OFF OF ANY OF THE SIGN UP SHEETS!  SIGNING UP IS A COMMITMENT!!  

            a. If you cannot attend a project that you signed up for:

                    i. Notify the project chair

                    ii. Attempt to find a replacement by calling at least five sisters

                    iii. Notify the project chair if you found a replacement or not

            b. To be able to send an email to the sisterhood you must include the name of the five sisters

that you contacted.  If you cannot replacement, contact Heather or Kate for further assistance.

            c. If you miss a project without notifying the project chair or one of the service VPs, it will

count as a MISSED PROJECT.  If you receive two (2) missed projects, you will be placed on

service probation either for the current or following semester (depending on the date of the

occurrence of the second missed project).  

 

5.  Each sister has a number which is distributed to you on in an email at the beginning of the semester.  If you did not receive your service number, please email Heather or Kate IMMEDIATELY. You will get emails periodically that list your service hours under your service number.

 

6. Every sister must complete 25 hours of service.  

            a. No more than 2/3 (16.6) of your first 25 hours may count from the same project.  

            b. Only 6 hours of your first 25 hours may come from various drives.  

            c. Only 6 hours of your first 25 hours may come from fundraising (this includes fundraisers

BOTH inside and outside of our sorority).

            d. Anything under $5 counts as 0.5 hours and anything $5 or over counts as 1 hour.  Any

hours over 6 in drives or fundraising will go toward your White Rose Award!

            e. You cannot get more the 6 hours in one sitting.  All other hours will go towards your White

Rose award.  

            f. WHITE ROSE: 35 or more hours of service total

 

7. PLEASE make sure you are on time for projects!  There is a 15 minute waiting period but do not abuse that!

 

8. If a project is canceled because not enough girls sign up OR there is no driver, OR the project was cancelled more than 24 hours in advance, you will NOT receive the hours.  If the project is canceled less than 24 hours in advance for unforeseen circumstances (i.e. weather), you WILL receive hours.  

 

9. The day/night before a project, you will receive a reminder email from the project chair.  If you are a driver, she will give you directions and let you know which sisters/pledges are attending the project with you so that you know who you’re waiting for.  If for some reason you do NOT receive a reminder call or email, ASSUME THAT THE PROJECT IS STILL ON!!  If you are unsure, CALL THE PROJECT CHAIR!!  Mistakes can get made and we will NOT accept the excuse that you did not go because you did not receive a reminder call.

THE LAST DAY FOR SIGNING UP FOR HOURS IS WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 25, 2009.

ANYTHING YOU SIGN UP FOR AFTER THIS WILL COUNT TOWARDS SPRING 2010.

ALTHOUGH YOU MAY HAVE MORE THAN 25 HOURS TOTAL, YOU MUST MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE COMPLETED YOUR FIRST 25 HOURS WITHIN THE GUIDELINES SPECIFIED ABOVE.

 

11. Drives:
        a. Bring items for the drives into the office in the proper box
        b. Label with: Name, Amount of items, Amount of hours
        c. Email CPC at gss.cpc@gmail.com
                   i. If you do not email, you will NOT receive hours!
        d. Clothing

                   i. Shirts, pants, sweaters, jeans etc.  (No undergarments!)  
                   ii. You are responsible for driving the clothes to the Salvation Army on Elkton Road in

the shopping center across from 7-11 or the Goodwill in Newark Shopping Center.

                   iii. Hours:  0.25 hours per item

        e. Soda Tabs: 100 tabs = 1 hour
        f. Box Tops: 10 items = 1 hour
        g. Printer Cartridges: 1 cartridge = 0.5 hours
        h. Cell Phones: 1 phone/ charger = 1 hour

        i. Soap: 10 bars = 1 hour
