And the Winners were

A Grade

Winner - Norm Mitchell -  Runner Up Bernard Tai

After a 4th in our recent Mardi Gras tournament, good on Norm Mitchell topped the bill undefeated this time round. An excellent effort - certainly one of the most consistent on the day. With 1 win away was a very deserved runner-up Bernard Tai who played some very exciting shots amongst his series of matches. Bernard is a very entertaining player.  Robert Wylde our runner up to Ben last tournament unfortunately had to retire injured. Special mention to Chris Saurine who made every player fight for their win, his result bares no reflection on his efforts! Look out next tournament for Chris. Phillip won 3 of his matches, a mixed day for him but narrowley beaten in most of his games, he's an outstanding competitor.

B Grade

Winner - Choon Yen -  Runner Up Michael Young

Fascinating round of matches that had plenty of twist and turns, half way though the result was anyones. There were terrific wins by Kevin, Didier & Joe but ultimately the top two spots were fought between David, Michael, Mark & Choon Yen. Not till the final match did we know who won! Mark Percy by not winning his last match went from possible 1st to 4th, Michael Young who looked set to win at that point lost his last match to Joe and was pipped at the post by Choon Yen on points. Everyone played some outstanding squash in this fantastic series of matches. David Smith who was runner-up last tournament was third this tournament.

C1 Grade

Winner - Karl May -  Runner Up Craig Margieson

Karl our lovely legs winner in last tournament was a very popular winner of the C1 tournament undefeated ( he still has lovely legs! ) , Craig Margieson came in 2nd in a highly contested series of matches, from a 3-way tie for 3rd - Ray Wines, Jonathon and Ky - and a whisker away was Ross Hill who did absolutely fantastic in his matches. A lot to say for the efforts Ross & Ray who really kept their younger opponents on their toes. It wasn't Johanne's day which was a surprise, knowing Johanne he'll sort us all out next tournament - a very tough compeitior.

C2 Grade

Winner - Richard Kentwell -  Runner Up Todd Dibben

Well I have to say one of the most improved players in the last 12 months was Richard Kentwell who won his grade undefeated. Richard was one of our representatives at Colonge, Germany. Good on you Richard! A well deserved win for Todd Dibben snuck in 2nd on point over Alan Heywood. Both these guys did very well indeed - they had one win and one loss against each other and ultimately the points margin in these contest tipped Todd over the line. Andreas finished 4th and as Richard indicated when he played Andres he really had to fight to beat him indicates some even contests in this grade!

Financial outcomes will be available later in the week , thanks again for everyones participation in the GSquash Spring Tournament 2010!
