Trading Policies

Last Updated: January 12, 2009

First and foremost any inquiries for trades involving money and/or blank tapes/DVDs will be ignored and lead to the blocking of your e-mail address. Doing the aforementioned is an insult to the people of the alt.tv.game-shows internet newsgroup, the Game Show Forum, and others within the GS community. If you have access to record GS episodes off your local tv stations or cable/satellite channels, you can build your collection using them.

When contacting me about a trade, please don't tell me the shows you want right away. Although you've sent me an e-mail, there's no guarantee that a trade will happen. If your collection is available on a website, please send me your URL/link to it. If your collection is offline you can send me your listings in another format (MS Word document, MS Excel spreadsheet, et al.)

When you're instructed to select episodes, please mention the ID numbers for the episodes you want. Here are a few examples...
  • 5.5 means it's the 5th episode of volume #5
  • CD1.6 means it's the 6th episode of the first tape/disc sent from Chuck Donegan
I will trade for for VHS tapes, and DVD+/-R discs (if applicable according to your trading rules). When recording shows for trade, please use name brand tapes or DVD+/-R media (TDK, Sony, RCA, Maxell, JVC, et al.), but DO NOT USE FUJI TAPES or use any discount/store brand ones. I enforce this rule becuase I've heard that some traders had problems with the Fuji tapes. Also leave the labels that come with each tape unused. As for DVD media, do not use the paper labels on the discs as they cause my DVD player to not read the discs.

If in the event that I catch your name on a "bad trader" or "tape/disc overdue" list, you can still trade with me, but I'll need to recieve your tape(s)/DVD(s) first before I send yours out. If after 30 days (maybe longer for International traders and/or if circumstances occur other than work/school for US traders) I don't recieve episodes from you, then your name will end up on the 'Blacklist'. I will be happy to give out my mailing address, but you need to do the same. Most of the time the shows are mailed to you via USPS Priority Mail while other times I send via First Class. Do not send episodes using Media Mail, although it's cheap its also slower in terms of delivery time. For International traders, I use International First Class (as of December 26, 2007) or use USPS Global Priority Mail if my budget allows.

I do even trades only (i.e. 6 hrs. for 6 hrs., 8 hrs. for 8 hrs., et al.), keep in mind that a GS episode typically has a run time of 30 minutes whether or not it has commercials. The minimum trades I do are six hours and no trade ratios (meaning I send 6-hours worth of shows and recieve shows totalling more or less than what I've sent). Please record tapes in SP, SLP, or EP mode or for DVDs use 2-hour, 2.5 hour, 3-hour, and 4-hour modes depending on your DVD recorder.

If the episodes you have in your collection have the folowing...
  • bad commercial edits
  • none and/or partial intro and/or end credits
  • questionable audio and/or video quality
  • GSN credit crunches (used from March 15, 2004-present)
...and they aren't mentioned in some form in your collection, please tell me so that there aren't any surprises. Some of the shows that I've transferred to DVD had some bits missing due to recording errors because my set-top recorder found parts of the episode deemed the quality unacceptable. Some of the other shows I've had to remove from the online collection due their poor video quality.

If your episode has commercials intact, keep them in there regardless of source.

Failiure to abide by the rules will have your name end up on my 'Blacklist' that I've mentioned.

Note: These rules are subject to change at any time by me for any reason.
