BEST REGARDS

I have modded tons and tons of 148's and 2000's.  I have weeded out all the crappy mods that do nothing or totally jack up your precious radio.  Mainly I focus on audio, if you looking for more power simply get an amplifier.  It's not really worth running your transmitter to the hilt and this is especially true if it's audio that your after.   I will be adding nice high quality pics of the actual work being done so you can have your radio looking as good inside as it sounds.   All of the information is free but if you hose your radio doing any of these mods, please don't blame me.  You do this at your own risk and of course this is for educational purposes only.

Please try to keep in mind that when it comes to almost anything in radio, you have to make BIG changes to get BIG changes.  In other words, just cutting the limiter and turning down that carrier will only MAKE YOU SOUND LIKE EVERYONE ELSE WHO DID THAT !  Which turns out to be 98% of the people out there.

I will be presenting several kinds of mods from mild to wild.  Every mod requires parts replacements, however, in the "milder" section these items can be purchased from your local electronic parts retailer.  In the "wilder" section, a lot of things will need to be obtained from online retailers and pcb's will need to be built.

The first thing you should do is the D104 Mod.  Without a decent sounding mic,  the rest of the stuff won't be fully utilized. Also please take a moment and read the Caps and Resistors section.

A few thoughts
  • Don't rush your work
  • Make every attempt to be precise
  • Don't work on your rig when your drunk or high - do that after your done it's way more fun
  • Your antenna and feedline are of the upmost importance

Please be patient with me as this web site is new and I have just started.  Check back frequently as there will be
TONS of updates.
