Senior League 2009 By Michael Quinn Mens Captain 'A big thank you to all the senior players who represented GLTC with such distinction throught our most successful campaign this year. Overall one cup, one promotion and a host of near misses and especially pleasing was that once more no team was relegated. Keep up the good work guys!' o35s GLTC1 Captain: Niall O'Flynn With our big guns waiting in reserve for the play offs this team was closer than a close shave in a Turkish bathhouse of going all the way (we can only dream!) o35s GLTC2 Captain: Dave Kenny PROMOTION!! Cut through the section and playoffs like a hot knife through butter. Led by 'Dynamic Dave' the team made it to the semi before bowing out to a strong Portmarnock outfit. | o45s GLTC1 Captain: Heber O'Farrell Once more the team did a great job to make it to the semi final before coming up against our nemisis Fitzwilliam 1 (who went on to claim the cup). Heber's organisational skills came to the fore with subs used with gay abandon. o45s GLTC2 Captain: Paul McKnight A whisker away from getting out of the group (for the second year!!). 'Peerless Paul' defies the aging process and led his team from the front with all the exhuberance of a 19 year old!!! o55s GLTC1 Captain: Alan Perkins CHAMPIONS!!! Say it loud and say it proud. The word 'Champions' says it all!! Brilliantly led by Alan P. throughout the campaign. Well done to all the members of the squad and the team who played in the final. Great stuff!! |
