Interested in amateur theatre?

Grenoside & Birley Carr Players (GBCP) perform plays and Gilbert & Sullivan operettas at the Community Centre, Grenoside, Sheffield, S35 8PR, UK.

 In 2010, the group presented G&S 'The Sorcerer' in April to nearly full Houses. 'Murder/Mystery evenings were staged on 1st & 2nd July and  enjoyable evenings were had by all. Productions of the 'The Gondoliers' and an Agatha Christie play entitled 'Cards on the Table followed and both proved to be very wll received.  The Rick Abbot play entitled 'Play On' was presented in November 2011.

GBCP was recently formed by the merger of two existing groups, both of whom had been in existence for around 60 years.  Grenoside Players have performed two plays each year at the Community Centre whilst Birley Carr Methodist Musical & Dramatic Society presented a play & a Gilbert & Sullivan operetta in Birley Carr Church hall.  Due to the closure of the church, a merger of the two societies was seen to be beneficial to both groups in that it secured a home in the Community Centre for productions and it increased acting resources to allow a larger range of plays to be presented.

 The merger also introduces Gilbert & Sullivan operettas to the Grenoside Community.

Why you should join our Group?

An enthusiastic group of theatre lovers,with a wide range of acting and singing abilities, meet for the express purpose of maintaining the presence of amateur theatre for the enjoyment of our community.

We also welcome theatre lovers to take part in our productions.  However, those who have no wish to appear on stage would also be welcome to assist frontstage and behind the scenes in set building & props.  You never know, a wish to appear on stage may develop when you realise that your hidden talent can shine from within a large chorus.
