The Elm Street Neighborhood Advisory Council and the Nathanael Historical Foundation sponsored the first fundraiser to raise money to renovate the "Old Greensboro School," or the soon to be Greene County Cultural Enrichment Center. The goal is $2 million which seems ridiculous at first considering our small poor county and our community. It is not, Greene County, our residents and all of our children deserve a special place, providing special classes, exhibits, and enrichment programs for everyone. We can do it, no County deserves something this special more than us.
Over $4,000.00 was raised at this event held at Hunting Hills Sporting Clays. Thanks to the many shooters who bought prizes and 50/50 tickets, our donors who expressed sincere desire to make this project happen, and of course local master artist Maggy Aston who donated an original oil painting and Mary Shine who donated an authentic Greensboro Crock for auction.
UNIQUE HANDCRAFTED POTTERY TROPHIES BY JENNIFER ADAMSON OF OAK FOREST POTTERY, MOTHER EARTH GREENHOUSE, WERE PRESENTED TO THE WINNERS.

Every day the question arises as to when the habitat House will be completed and when the new family will move to town. As many of you know this is the first new house in the Borough in 35 years. It is a five bedroom and fits well on Second Street. Be assured that the house will be finished before summer is to far gone. |

The kickoff of the Greensboro Farmers' Fair and Market was May 5, 2012. The market will continue on every Saturday morning from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM until October 13, 2012. It was a great opening to the 2012 season. Our vendors included the amazing Rising Creek Bakery, beautiful plants from Clark's Nursery, Harley Gapen's Willow Tree Farms selling fresh pork and beef products and the delicious homemade baked items of Heather Huggins, Callifonte Foods with scrumptious pastas, pizza shells, and sauces, Bennett's amazing hydroponic tomatoes, VFW Post 6303 serves great coffee and beverages, Pocketsize Productions Pottery, Eric Moore's Hot Dogs, Barzanti's Greenhouse selling a variety of perennials, vegetable plants, annuals, and herbs, and of course Harden Family Farm with a variety of seasonal produce. Michael Huff played great music and the Art Activity was making piñata's in honor of Cinco de Mayo. Everyone is invited to our Saturday market. It is in a beautiful place in a sweet community and will provide an enjoyable time and great food for all who need a little something special on a Saturday Morning. If vendors, musicians, and artists are interested in participating please contact Mary or Darlene at 724-943-3612. |

Joseph Kurilko will be the new Borough code enforcement officer. His first day on the job is April 14, 2012. He will be riding through town. His car prominently displays the sign CODE OFFICER. If you would like to receive a synopsis of the most common ordinances he will enforce, please stop by the Borough Building for a copy.
Our previous code officer, Lewis Matt passed away in March 12, 2012 after a brief but significant battle with cancer. Lew will be missed by his family and friends from Greene County. We will certainly miss his White Buck Farm jams and jellys that were sold at our Farmers Market. |

A dumpster will be available for Borough Residents to use over this weekend. It will be located behind the Old Greensboro School/Monon Center. Volunteers are needed to help pick up trash along our gateway streets, on the riverbank and throughout town. Tee shirts are available for kids who volunteer that day.
If you would like to volunteer to clean-up the area, meet at the Log Cabin at 9:00 AM on April 21st. Gloves, bags, breakfast and lunch will be provided. |

Hello Friends of Greensboro Farmers’ Fair and Market,
Attached is the 2012 Farm Market Vendor Application. If you are not a farmer/grower please pass it on to someone you may know who does grow local and is looking for a place to sell the fruits of their labor. Of course the Greensboro Farmers’ Fair and Market is always looking for agricultural exhibits, children's arts and craft activities, and musicians. If you have ideas for any of these activities, feel free to contact them and schedule a their Saturday soon. Let me know so we can fit them in.
At this point we do not have grant dollars to subsidize these efforts but we are convinced we can work through this situation with creative thinking, volunteers, and faith that we will be able to secure another grant.
Your ideas are welcomed, and your help is essential.
This year public restrooms have been added to the Gazebo Park. Needs for water should be noted on your application.
We are very much looking forward to another great and bigger and better Market. Many thanks to all of you who participated in the market last year and look forward to your return.
With Great Regard,
Darlene
