The festival needs over 100 people to volunteer to help run the festival each year, without these volunteers the festival simply could not happen. Volunteering for Newcastle Community Green Festival is easy and fun! You can commit as much or as little time as you can to help with the festival and you can get involved in lots of different things. Volunteers will be provided with any required equipment and suitable refreshments whilst helping out. You will also get our love and appreciation for your efforts! Unfortunately the one thing we can't give are travel costs to and from the festival - although hopefully lots of you will be able to get there for nothing by bike or foot. Some of the volunteering roles include: Stewarding - the eyes and ears of the festival - ensuring that everyone attending has an enjoyable and safe visit. Note that Stewards need to register prior to the festival using the Volunteer Registration Form and will be assigned one or more 4 hour shifts during the festival weekend. Site Crew - helping to set the festival site up, keep it running smoothly and dismantle afterwards. We need site crew from about one week before the festival and for about a week afterwards to help pack up. You can volunteer for just a single period or for as much time as you think you can give. Site crew can be given varied roles and for various shifts depending on your skills and what you would like to do. Charity Collectors - during the festival we need a team of volunteers to shake buckets and collecting tins and encourage visitors to donate to the Green Festival fund. Although we are a non-profit making event we do need to meet our costs! Bucket collectors will be assigned shifts depending on how much time you can give. Festival Planners - the festival is run by a core team of volunteers who plan every aspect of the weekend. We are always needing people to help plan and so, if you want to be more involved in the running of the festival, please let us know. We are also thinking ahead to 2011 so if you want to be involved next year get in touch now and we can keep you in the loop. Site Regeneration - after the festivities are over we need to return Leazes Park back to being a beautiful park. A team is needed to help the site crew tidy up the site and return the park back to its natural environment. This will take place all day and evenings on the Monday - Wednesday after the festival weekend. Community Organisations - we have lots of opportunity for community groups to come and help with a particular aspect of the festival. If you help oiut with local youth groups, charities, community centres, volunteer groups etc please get in touch and we can chat about how your organisation can be involved. We also have lots and lots of other things that need doing so if you just want to help out please get in touch and we might offer you some of the more unusual jobs that go with the festival. - and if you have a good idea yourself we may very well like it and tell you to go for it! To register as a volunteer please fill out the Volunteer Registration Form You can also contact the volunteer coordinator, Simon, at greenfestivalvolunteers@gmail.com |
