GREAT Trust greatly welcomes you to this site of a genuinely noble cause that underlies the significance and purpose of humanity i.e. global racial and ethnic equality.
GREAT is a manifestation of a global consciousness of forces for good, that have throughout history sought to selflessly protect justice and fundamental human rights from violation by conscienceless others. In the 21st Century, a new wave of change is gathering momentum, involving a broadchurch of people - from tycoons, philanthropists, professionals, activists and everyday folks, to create a more humane world, a fitting generational legacy to future generations.
GREAT operates in similar tradition of the global coalition of conscience that defeated the transatlantic slave trade, colonialism and apartheid in South Africa, amongst others. We are confident that similar coalition of conscience is able to defeat racial hatred, bigotry, discrimination and free humankind from the power of ignorance. However, there is much more to do in th space of so little time that humans beings have on mother earth; and we need to forward march with deliberate haste.
All over the world, there are scars of human racial, ethnic hatred and discrimination that have culminated in needless dehumanisation, hardship, agony and pain including wars, and where institutions have ceased to serve humanity and eradicate the unpalatable lived experiences of the world's majority citizens.
December 2008, marked the 60th anniversary of the United Nations Declaration of Universal Human Rights, which revealed a horrifying indictment of the extent of blight that effectively erodes the fundamental rights of many. Clearly, existing propositions have failed the majority both in the Global North and the Global South, making it imperative for new paradigms to take human civilisation forward. The recycling of the same old approaches would only perpetuate the continued dehumanisation of many. To the extent that some make fat careers out of institutional arrangements that cause so much hardship to many, is to say the least obscene.
As such, the central thesis of the GREAT Trust, is that on the basis of the history and evidence of race, ethnic inequality and human rights abuses, the status quo has not been able to uphold the dignity of mankind and as such we need pro-humankind radical platforms, schools of thought, paradigms and models to manifest inalienable fundamental human rights starting from racial equality. These rights must be manifest now, in our generation, so we can fulfil our generational obligation of leaving the world a better place for future generations.
What type of human civilisation does not respect human equality and rights, where human beings are the most violators of human rights? The GREAT Trust considers this paradox as a contradiction of human existence which impedes human progress and must be unravelled in our generation. It is imperative that the fundamental truth of ‘All men are created equal with certain inalienable rights’ must be upheld as a priority in all spheres of human endeavour. We must arrive at the stage where this truth is indelibly permanently inked into the memory and consciousness of every human being; it must be at the forefront of our existence. We consider these the cardinal duty of every person in position of leadership.
1] The legacies of the transatlantic slavery trade, colonialism, neo-colonialism, apartheid and globalisation have extensively polluted our mental environments with racism to justify the atrocious dehumanisation predicated on the supremacist ‘Black and White’ supremacist mythology and framework. The truth is that there is only One Human Race.
2] The Global Racial Order remains intact. Evidence of racism is not only local, national, regional, but is also international and permeates the UN Security Council which is unrepresentative of the global population, international agencies, the global economic disorder – unfair trade, debt, tariff differentials,, the North-South dichotomy, first to third world straightjacket etc.
3] The prize of the status quo is excessively genocidal, costly and unjustified but the plethora of orthodox intrventions thus far been snail-paced, piecemeal, unresponsive and disproportionate to rapidly eroding racial equality and human rights. The existing institutional arrangements have proven grossly inadequate as the bear facts and statistics would have it. For centuries, millions of lives have been lost and continue to be lost as a result of inadequate institutional arrangements and attitudes predicated on baseless ‘supremacism’, insensitivity and the tendency for fat careers to be made on the misery of far too many, for far too long.
4] The impotency of existing arrangements have given rise to the Middle East crisis, neo-racist or post-racism theories that dispute and discount the primary foundation of racial discrimination, the rebirth of far right neo-Nazi activities, the rise of racist websites such as www.niggermania.com, Bell Curve syndrome, the re-emergence of scientific racism, increase in academic racism, cyber racism and of course global poverty. For how long can we condone with cosmetics, when millions of people pay the high prize everyday, every hour, every minute, every second?
5] Not only has the status quo failed to realise racial equality and human rights, it encourages the exportation of political democracy without an integral economic democracy. A lot of global citizens pay the high price of their lives for this scenario. These are backed by global poverty statistics. So for instance in Afrika, there is an economic tsunami every month where 158, 000 people die each month from poverty and 9.2 million children die each year from preventable causes. There is overwhelming evidence to establish that the status quo is ineffective and before long could be held complicit and accountable.
6] The foregoing leads GREAT Trust to conclude that human civilisation is questionable as long as human beings are blighted by poisonous cocktail of preventable phenomena. Since the status quo has proven incapable of remedying these deficits, progressively radical platforms, schools of thought, paradigms and models are imperative to restore racial and ethnic equality, human dignity and human rights.
GREAT Trust's corporate cultural approach is unorthodoxly root cause and effect paradigms, a framework of prevention, deterrence that render racial abuse unappealing and uncool.
How to take these ambitions forward are implied in our Suite of Creative and Innovative Alternatives, Propositions, Programmes and Interventions including, but not limited to: - New Schools of Thought, Approaches, Models and Paradigms and Centres of Excellence - Global Advocacy to have Human [Race, Ethnic, Tribal] Equality and Human Rights adopted as compulsory courses at all levels of education including knowledge of the 30 fundamental human rights - Global Advocacy to proscribe all Racist Websites and Groups - Plan for and launch an worldwide 'Make Racism History' Campaign - Global Race and Ethnic Equality Program to liberate both victims and perpetrators from the slavery of human racial bigotry
