The Coalition is busy planning another great lineup of events to celebrate Earth Day. In fact, because there are so many great events, we will actually have more than a week planned.
Earth Week Activities are scheduled throughout the month of April and early May. The schedule is as follows (please check back as details are still being developed):
Wednesday April 18, 2012 and Thursday April 19, 2012
UW Green Bay Green Innovations 2012 Conference: The two day conference includes speaker panels, breakouts, and the Thursday night (April 19) viewing of the documentary “Tapped: The Movie.” Tapped is free and open to the public; the rest of the conference is moderately priced. For more information, please see http://www.uwgb.edu/embi/green-innovations-2012/index.asp. Early registration is available online.
April 19, 2012
"Tapped" Movie Presentation and Guest Speaker: The Environmental Management Business Institute (EMBI), in collaboration with University of Wisconsin-Green Bay's environmental club, PEAC, is sponsoring a showing of "Tapped: the Movie", a full-length feature documentary film about water supply issues. The event begins at 7 pm at the Phoenix Center and will include a panel discussion, featuring Bill Nabak and Patricia Terry, about local groundwater and water supply issues, as well as the concerns surrounding bottled water. The event is free and open to the public.
Stephanie Soechtig's debut feature of "Tapped" is an unflinching examination of the big business of bottled water. This timely documentary is a behind-the-scenes look into the unregulated and unseen world of an industry that aims to privatize and sell back the one resource that ought never to become a commodity: our water. From the plastic production to the ocean in which so many of these bottles end up, this inspiring documentary trails the path of the bottled water industry and the communities which were the unwitting chips on the table. A powerful portrait of the lives affected by the bottled water industry, this revelatory film features those caught at the intersection of big business and the public's right to water.
