Grassroots4Change(G4C) is dedicated to open, accountable, and transparent government.
We try to empower people to influence their governments by elevating public awareness of political and governmental processes and by fostering civic and political engagement. The mission of Grassroots4Change (G4C) is to mobilize political activists at the grassroots level to influence, support, and/or challenge the Obama administration, Congress, and state and local political leaders in order to further a open-minded agenda. Grassroots4Change will accomplish this by means of organizing, networking, issues research, and advocacy. It will rely primarily on the initiative and skills of its members to energize and sustain this endeavor.
1. The Grassroots4Change movement will continue in active existence, to press for change in the spirit of the “post-partisan” campaign this year that has catapulted Barack Obama into the White House. The largest numbers of active volunteers in this movement surely identify themselves as Democrats, but many see themselves as nonpartisan and some adhere to the Republican Party. The Grassroots4Change movement will continue, therefore, as a separate and distinct entity, not as an affiliate or arm of any Party organization. Grassroots4Change is a non-profit, non-partisan, community-based organization. We are founded and led by volunteers. It is an independent organization, not affiliated with any political party, campaign, or special-interest group. We are non-partisan in that we do not take sides or endorse any party. However, we are politically active and encourages everyone to become active participants in their communities. 2. The Grassroots4Change movement will share with Obama campaign supporters’ news and information about political issues and opportunities, encouraging their political action across municipal lines. 3. The Grassroots4Change movement will work to build support, through communications media and advocacy with public officials, for legislation and policies to implement the Obama campaign program. 4. The Grassroots4Change movement will invite supporters to create, lead, and participate in Issue Steering Committees to shape the message and the campaign on key priorities, in accordance with supporter expressions of interest. The Grassroots4Change movement has accordingly launched a web site to facilitate discussion of these issues. www.grassroots4change.com 5. The Grassroots4Change movement will call public attention to needed local and regional responses to issues the Obama team may be dealing with at the federal and international levels. 6. The Grassroots4Change movement will give particular attention to engaging youth in the policy debate and political action to achieve results on the commitments of the campaign for change.
7. The Grassroots4Change movement is bound together by a shared commitment to community service, and many Obama volunteers found in the campaign their first real opportunity to work concretely and effectively in communities. The Grassroots4Change movement will identify like-minded issue advocacy groups and join forces with them where appropriate (North Jersey Grassroots, Mercer4Obama, South Jersey for Obama, Central Jersey4Obama, NJRC, Jersey Shore for Obama, C.H.A.N.G.E., A Worthy Cause, Blue Star Families for Obama Citizenaction, and Bluewavenj.
