Feedback and Evaluation

The success of this lesson depends a lot on the feedback received from the students as well as the teacher.  Students will not want to continue a unit of lessons if they find the lesson boring, so by giving them an opportunity for feedback, the media specialist will be able to critically analyze what went right or wrong with a particular lesson and tweak it for future lessons.  The teacher should give and receive feedback with the media specialist providing their relationship is a cooperative relationship.  The success of the students and the success of the teaching team depends on the ability to give and receive criticism. "Collaboration is a partnership that involves shared responsibility for designing and developing instructional materials as well as implementing instruction." (Lamb)

Reflection is important to build better strategies of instruction. "Reflection is important for students who are learning to use information effectively and for teachers who want to evaluate their information literacy instruction." (Lamb, Key Words)
The questions I would ask the teacher are:
1.  What lesson or lessons did we have the most difficulty with?
2.  Were our objectives clear to the students?
3.  Was the expectations clearly stated?
4.  Did we cover everything we intended to cover or did we miss something?
5.  What should we do away with or could we implement in this unit?
6.  Is there something I could do better?
7.  Did you feel the responsibilities were evenly distributed?
8.  Did you feel supported in your instruction?

The students provided their feedback with the third lesson.  Taking constructive criticism makes a person a better instructor.  We are here for the students.  Our school focuses on the question, "Remember Why?"  We are here for the students to enable them to become lifelong learners.  The most important role I can provide in the role of inquiry based instruction is modeling continuous questioning and learning strategies.  If students see my desire to learn doesn't fade, then hopefully theirs won't either. Keeping feedback from teachers and students of projects will prove my value as a teacher librarian and that information literacy skills can be taught and mastered with good library programs with a certified media specialist.
