One definition of charity is the giving of ourselves for the benefit of
others. The giving can be in the form of time, talents, or treasures.
To me this sounds like the definition of a Giant Yard Sale!
A
Giant Yard Sale where people generously give of their time and talents
including Knights and their spouses, Knights' widows, family members
and people from the Parish and community. And what would a Yard Sale be
without a lot of valuable treasurers donated by a lot of generous
people. Thanks to all!
A special thanks also to those who
spent their treasures and made this Sale the huge success that it
turned out to be. When all the money is turned in and one or two final
items are sold, the proceeds will amount to more than $5,000 dollars.
As you know, these dollars represent funds to be used for scholarships
and this year for a Special Project or two. Way to go Sacred Heart?
I reserve “special thanks” for those who went above and beyond for the event.
Thanks to Mary Layfield, Mimi McClure and all the ladies who took on the enormous task of organizing and selling the clothes.
Thanks to Fr. Michael for his extreme patience and tolerance for the mess outside his home.
Thanks to Cindy for all her help and all that she does for all of us.
Thanks to the Pfohl family for their work at the "Sidewalk Cafe" as well as working the clean up after the sale.
Thanks to Jeff Glass for his donation of Frito-Lay chips.
Thanks to Sara Hallam my head salesperson.
Thanks to the Sacred Heart Softball Team for their help all day.
Thanks
to those Knights and their spouses who helped on the nights leading up
to the Sale, and a special thanks to those Knights who seemed to always
be there when I needed them the most.
Thanks to the set-up
crew and the sales crew and the clean up crew…everyone did an
outstanding job! I am proud of each and everyone of you!
If I have left out anyone it was unintentional, and if I have I thank them for their understanding.
Most
of all thanks and all my love to Sally, who was at my side through the
ups and the downs of the past couple of months. This was a HUGE
undertaking and could only have been accomplished by a Parish with a
Huge Heart, Thanks to all.
