Press material... I prefer to receive editorial material, including images, by email. Product information is always useful, especially if it is sent as a Word or text attachment to an email. I can extract text from an email too, but anything else usually gets dumped. Images should always be sent with the press release material, as I may not always have the opportunity to call or email you to request general product shots. And always include a telephone number and website address that trade and/or consumer readers can use to find out more about your company and its products, even if you have sent it to me many times in the past. If you quote prices in your emails, it helps if you tell me if the price quoted is a trade price, a ‘guide’ consumer price, and if it includes VAT. Image specification - this is very important! The publications I work for insist on high quality photography, and any image sent for editorial consideration must have a resolution of 300dpi and a size of at least 100 x 150mm. I can accept JPEG files and Mac Tiff files only. Please note: As a member of the Chartered Institute of Journalists, I do not write for magazines that make a charge for using editorial images. There is not point in sending low resolution images as I will dump them. And even if one sneaks past me, the art editor on the magazine will dump it.
