Some Milestones of Grace...
Easter, April 3, 1904, organization of congregation.
July 1, 1904, first regular pastor.
January 1, 1906, lot purchased.
September 26, 1909, cornerstone laid.
May 16, 1910, the building dedicated.
May 1, 1925, became self supporting.
April 17, 1912, the Evangelical Lutheran Synod of West Virginia was
organized in Grace Church.
1921, the painting "The Good Shepherd" a copy of the masterpiece by
Plockhorst, was done in oil on the chancel wall over the
altar by Gertrude DeBrau of Cumberland, MD.

April 16, 1922, pipe organ installed and dedicated.
April 30, 1940, the sub-basement was dedicated for use as an
educational and recreational center. Work on the sub-
basement had been started some years earlier by the
Boy Scouts and adults gave a helping hand to complete
the work. Our Boy Scouts continue to hold their weekly
meetings at Grace.
1950, the unification of the Women's organizations of the church.
January 1952, a resolution was passed which would permit women to
serve on the Church Council. Mrs. W. Glenn Norman
was elected to the council, becoming the first woman
member.
1988, ramps were added to the front entrance of the church making
Grace Church handicapped accessible.
2002, Circle of Grace was formed for the women of the church.
2003, a Food Pantry was started to aid the community.
2004, "Celebrating 100 years of Grace."

Pastor Hann had a huge impact at Grace Lutheran. He served as Pastor at Grace for decades (from January 1934 through May 1970) and was a very dedicated Pastor, which is why Hann Hall is named in honor of his ministry at Grace.
