Three Haiku Appreciations

In Notes from the Gean 3:4, March 2012, I had three brief essays, each one an appreciation for a different haiku poem—Canadian, American, and Japanese. These commentaries now appear on the Essays page. “Heat Wave” talks about a poem by Carole MacRury, “Misreading Haiku” explores a poem by Roberta Beary, and “Issa’s Joy” presents what is probably my all-time favourite haiku from any of the Japanese masters.
