Pete is an author, a freelance writer who works at home. He has been pushing hard to meet an unreasonable deadline and to please a demanding editor. His skin is grey. His buttocks are numb. He is hunched over a keyboard, tapping away between piles of paper, stacks of books and lines of coffee cups.

He stops staring at the screen and realises that he has been there for eleven hours. He hasn’t spoken to a human being for three days. He is scruffy and flabby and slightly malodorous. An email arrives, inquisitive about his interest in herbal supplements. The sun is shining onto his desk. He reaches up to draw the curtain across but his legs have gone into coma.

Pete needs to get off his arse.
He needs to get off his computer and get out of the house.

He needs fresh air and exercise.

He needs sociability.

He needs GOYA.
