Interested in supporting the 'got thirst' campaign? Great! Here are some ideas! Write and/or Call the Environment Minister and Premier! First things first the Alberta government needs to hear from you that protecting and preserving water for our family needs, our rivers and lakes and our future generations must be a priority! Call Premier Stelmach's office: (780) 427-2251 Call Minister Renner's office: (780) 427-2391 Invite us to give a community presentation in your home town, classroom or local group! Help us get our materials out! We will mail you an information package along with a number of our brochures with a tear-away postcard. Host an event, or go door-to-door with a friend. We need all the help we can get to inform people about their water rights to make sure they aren't left high and dry! Form a Water Rights Watch group! Meaningful support for water rights, comes from informed and empowered residents. Forming a group to build awareness and support for water in your community is a needed action to hold elected officials accountable to enforce and uphold strong protections for water. Take a photo with a sign stating 'got thirst? Will Alberta's new water law leave me high and dry?' or any other phrase relating to water in Alberta and send it to sheila@sierraclub.ca. We will use it in a viral campaign to highlight the growing numbers of people who want a just an effective water law! Donate to our campaign! Although it is your time and action that will make this campaign a success, we still need funds to cover the costs to allow us to continue our work. Contact us at sheila@sierraclub.ca or donate online at https://secure.sierraclub.ca/ (be sure to specify that you want the funds to go towards the 'Got Thirst' campaign!) |
