The Thunderbolts are currently a class 1A football team playing in the Santa Fe League conference.  Since 1992, the Thunderbolts have participated in the State Playoffs 11 times in 16 seasons.  In 1993,  Rye won its first State Championship, defeating Cedaredge 28 to 6.
