Gospel Outreach Association- Testimonies- Pedro Bocel
Greetings: to all who support and pray for us working for our Savior here in
Sololá Guatemala.
In 2006 I have been greatly blessed to be able to work full time for our
Savior with your help through Gospel Outreach Association.
My desire was to continue the work Kevin and Joy started here. But Kevin
also told me to listen to the Holy Spirit for direction and many more doors
will open to share the salvation message. I am so blessed to be able to talk
with Kevin and Joy by phone and e-mail every month it gives be great hope and
pleasure. My heart is to train and teach others God’s word. The Holy Spirit has
opened this door wide for me to share and teach His Word.
Schools are very different here in my country, buildings we have, books,
paper and school supplies we do not have. Many just show up and study nothing.
This has leaded me to use the Christian films and the bible teaching films that
the camera crews are making in Public schools. In the village of Chaquij I have
374 students that I share a one-hour Christian film and then a ½ hour bible
teaching film followed by a 4-hour bible study using the bible. These classes I
have been holding one time a week and it gives me great joy for all of the
students ask many questions and listen deeply to the stories in the bible. The
4-hour classes are broken up with 30 to 33 students per class. My voice is
almost gone by the time I am through, but the look of hope and joy on all of
the students and seeing their excitement when I return is worth it all. What
joy it is for me to serve our Father.
I have also held a 3-day bible camp in Panajachel for the children from all
of the churches in Solola. We had a great time studying the bible, playing many
games on memorizing verses, who can locate bible verses the fastest, showing
films at night. We had a very large turn out. I do apologize because I was so
excited to see so many show up I did not even think to count them. One night I
showed the Jesus film which after one of the leaders came forward with tears in
His eyes and stated He has taught this many times but seeing the impact of our
Savior on the cross touched him greatly. He called for a prayer of thanks to
our Savior and thanks for our salvation, which all in the room came forward
that night.
The Seminary in Solala is held the 3rd Saturday of every month.
We are in our third year of this ministry with over 30 pastors from many
different churches. Pastor Robin Garcia is the instructor and we have been
videoing these classes also. This is the martial I use for the other bible
teaching classes I hold. My son Joel, who Kevin put in charge of one of the
camera crews who is 13 years old, films these studies in which the 11 film
groups also use for their ministries.
I am also holding classes in Chimaltenango training on how important it is
to share the Salvation message with others and the different forms and ideas
that can be used to do so. There is much fear in these classes for many do not
want to speak in front of others, using a microphone, doing dramas, singing,
doing radio dramas. But with work and the Holy Spirit the fear will go away.
I have also been taking classes in Quetzaltenago for the radio dramas. We
are practicing doing bible dramas for the radio, waiting for the time that we
will be ready to start doing radio dramas live. This is a lot of work and we
are getting better every time. I know our Father is training us up for a great
new ministry. I also plan to use this group on many of the bible dramas we need
to film the bible.
I have also been teaching a women’s bible study group one day a week. This
class I hold in my native language that is Cakchiquel. This started for so many
of the women do not understand Spanish or read. The class is small with only
about 20 but all have been learning a lot with each 4-hour class.
I have also been holding a class for couples,
instructing on the values of marriage, which is so important in my country that
many do not marry but live together and then leave. Also many who did get
married divorce and look for a new wife. I thank God that so many came to this
class, many Christians and Non- Christians. Many stated after the class that it
is so important; because they need to find solutions to have their marriages
healed and be one with God. Even the Mayor of Panajachel came to the class.
