Blessing
to All of You,
My
background is with the Assembly of God church. For many years my father was a
Pastor on the coast in Guatemala for the Assembly of God. I was brought up with
strong Bible beliefs but I turned when my father left the church and at that
time I was not sure why he left. My family left the coast and moved into
Panajchel.
This
is where I learned to follow the wrong path in life. I followed a very bad
group and soon I not only robbed many places but I became the largest drug
dealer in the area. My own family turned me out and would have nothing to do
with me. Then I was down and felt alone I started using drugs to the point,
drugs and being on them was a night and day thing. I was so bad that I lived in
the street and I would do anything for a fix. One night I was so out of it
laying in the gutters at night on the street thinking about ending my life. I
called out to God for help and at that moment I heard Christian singing and I
looked and I was outside of a Christian church. I entered the church and prayed
for courage to turn my life around.
Every
time the church was open I would spend all of my time there. I was searching
for what God wanted me to do for Him. Within a few months one day at church I
met Wendy who loved Jesus with all of her heart. A few months later we where
married. I knew this was an answer to prayer. We put our whole life
around the church and helped out wherever there was a need.
I
was a new Christian only about one year. There was a special night that a
missionary was coming to our church to show a Christian film. After the showing
I helped pack up the film projector and introduced myself to Kevin Stoltenburg
who was showing the film. He implanted a vision to reach others for Christ and
I told Kevin I wanted to be a part of this.
The
next year I worked with Kevin setting up groups in the area. When Kevin started
the groups he would move on to another area and I would keep working with the
new group until they could work on their own. God blessed this ministry greatly
and in a year I was set up with my own group.
This
was a struggle for me, for in this area every one knew who I was and did not
believe I had changed. Then God set me a miracle of a son one year after we
where married. My family started to see me change and came to our side.
Just
as I was seeing the hand of God working knowing I had a long way to go,
Panajchel was almost destroyed by a hurricane. My work which I sold juice on
the street stopped for there was no one to buy it. The home I was renting was
flooded, I felt God was telling me to leave for the coastal area to share the
Salvation Message using films.
I
moved this ministry to the coast, which is where I am still working and sharing
the Salvation message. It is very hard work in this area and I can’t report
like I would like. The phone system does not work well in this area and it is a
very poor area and very hard to live.
Please keep us in your prayers every day
