 Gospel Outreach Association- Testimonies- Carlos Garcia Carlos Enrique García Solis I am from the Village of Patanatic municipality of Panajachel Solóla I take great pleasure in greet you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ Satan wants us to live like I lived my life. I was a lost drunk, addicted to drugs and a very bad man. I felt alone with hatred in my heart. Going back to 1987 I joined the military in Guatemala, I was stationed in the Quiche area and for me time was just to exist. I was not looking to change or add anything new in my life. I did not care for others in any way, I know now God doesn't want that. After six years in the military I started to think about changing my life and about God. I return to my home thinking this would change me but I did not find peace in my heart. Every one feared me because I was only out for myself and treated others very bad. Even my family turned me away because of my bad behavior. In 2003 I start searching for help and I start looking for a church. Here I heard about Jesus, something took hold of me and all I wanted to do was learn more. I dove into God’s word thinking to my self that only reading the Bible would change me, that many would see I am working for our Lord and I am now a Christian. But as I read John 8:36 “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed”. These words touched my heart I embraced these words to change my life to serve God. I started working in my church where there was a need. I prayed to God that I could serve my Lord and to show me the direction to go. I was working like a plow not knowing which way to go. I asked God to use a dog like me to preach His word and to tell others about Jesus Christ. In Nov of 2003 I was blessed for my birthday to be given an 18” TV and two Christian VHS movies copied from the TV to share with others not knowing this was the first step in God’s plan for me. I invited about 150 youth’s to watch the movie. This was a great blessing for me even my church seeing the outcome of this asked me to show other movies. The word of this night spread to other churches and soon I was invited to these churches to show a movie. Knowing with only two movies that were copies and a small 18” TV I prayed to God for a blessing to help my new ministry with a larger TV and a lot better movies. I was still thinking small yet at this time. In March of 2004 Kevin from Gospel Outreach Association came to my church with many Christian movies and a projector, that night there were over 300 in our church. After the showing I asked Kevin to help me with my ministry. We prayed together then Kevin told me of his idea and said he would only not help me but would like me to go with him to all of the villages. My heart leaped with joy for I know this was from God and an answer to my prayer. We went to a new village every night showing a different movie. I witnessed many miracles at every showing, many accepting Jesus into their lives at the alter call and we prayed for the sick. We not only visited Evangelical Churches but we went to Catholic, Charismatic churches of all Denominations telling them the testimony of Jesus. I saw how the Holy Spirit blessed this ministry in one village there where 2500 at the first showing the second showing about 3400 and the third showing well over 4700. In June 2005 God blessed this ministry that I was able to separate from Kevin with my own projector, DVD machine and 8 books of Christian movies. I was visiting over 22 villages a month sharing Jesus. My wife became very angry with me and wanted me to stop. She did not feel working for our Lord was important that I should get two jobs and make more money. Yes we are poor and we have no home to live in with enough food to eat. But I knew with faith and working right for the Lord our needs would be meet. Kevin told me that it was not only right to keep working for our Lord but I also had to remember that my wife and family were very important. He knew my wife did not care for Jesus but she was seeing me change. Kevin talked to her and asked her to go with me on the next showing. With a lot of prayer I have been so blessed after the showing with over 6000 there that night my wife was so touched she put Jesus in her heart and we are now a family ministry. When Satan sends what we think is a storm if we stay on the right path the storm will calm. My family and I still live in an 8x12 wood shed. We do not always have great food to eat many times only tortillas but we have the food of life that is more important and Jesus lives in my heart.
