Method for the GLE

The Gospel Listening Experience (GLE) or the Gospel Encounter (GE) is a gradual process that takes place within any Christian household: family, single people living together, religious men or women in a community, or contemplatives who live in community, and priests or deacons who live or come together for a religious experience of the gospels in their household. The method used for the GLE is a listener-response approach to the gospels. It takes place on four levels of listening:
  1. Proclamation of the text (anyone in the household may proclaim the selected pericope from the gospel;
  2. Reflection on the text in one's life experience and then the sharing of each participants experience of the gospel up to this point in a person’s live;
  3. Formation in and by the text according to a respected commentary; and
  4. Contemplation of the text in the light of the whole gospel listening experience of the selected pericope. Each participation spends quiet time with God, asking him to direct the mind and heart in order to actualize the pericope in real life.
