As a candidate for the Poway Unified School District Board my goals and areas of interest are:

1. Continue maintaining a budget that meets the needs of our children, teachers, classified and administrators by finding sensible ways to stretch every budget $1.00 to do the work of $1.20.

2. Question how well money is being spent from the Proposition U bond measure.

3. Have an “open door” policy to listen to all sides of every issue. I will apply my conflict management training to help build and support mutual respect, good communications and cooperative problem solving.

4. Visit every school on a regular basis to interact with students, parents, teachers, and administrators listening to their views and ideas on how to improve PUSD.

5. Review and improve student and building security and disaster procedures.

6. Set goals and let school district personnel use their training and experience to achieve them.

7. Explore special incentives for individual PUSD personnel achieving consistent outstanding performance.

8. Find ways to assist teachers and do something about “teacher burn out”.

9. Use industry and government ISO 9000 Quality Management System to improve the management of the school district.

10. Don’t change what is working. Just change what is not working.

I appreciate your consideration and thank you for your vote!
