Short Biography Alvaro was born in 1983 and raised in Talavera de la Reina (Spain). He earned his B.S. degree with highest distinction from the University of Alcala in 2005. He then joined the DENDROCAT group of Prof. Ernesto de Jesús at the same University. On Summer 2008 he worked at University of Amsterdam (Van 't Hoff Institute for Molecular Sciences) under the direction of Prof. Gadi Rothenberg. His work was focused on the study of telomerization reactions catalyzed by Palladium complexes. Upon completing his PhD (December 2009), he moved to Bristol to work with Prof. Guy Lloyd-Jones as a Marie Curie research fellow. His research work is focused on the development of environmental methods for organic synthesis, with an emphasis on aqueous catalysis and mechanism studies.
